VRBO Nightmare

VRBO turned this trip into a frustrating and frantic mess Our original condo cancelled on us less than 24 hours prior to our departure. VRBO never reached out to let me know. Actually they never called me at all. I had to do all the calling. The representative that I spoke to after I received the email from Coastal Vacation Homes of the cancellation told me that the issue would be escalated and one of not two more representatives would be in touch with me the following morning to help me find another condo. The next morning I waited and waited and no word from VRBO. So I frantically spent the day before our departure trying to find a place to stay comparable to the original listing. When I called VRBO back to let them know they told me that they would reimburse me the difference between the two. Then later on that evening, 16 hours prior to our departure VRBO sends me an email saying I could pick a property up to a little over $6000 and they would reimburse me for up to $3003.00. Had I known that in the first place I wouldn’t have spent the whole day frantically trying to find a property in the same price range. Then I spent a lot of my trip going back and forth emailing Ronnell Rey trying to get them to refund me the difference. It was definitely a vacation killer. They kept asking for an exact time and day stamp of every transaction that had occurred. I sent them everything I could over and over. I called my bank and they said there was no way to do that. Horrible service

It is the location

The location was just what we were looking for, over the water, listening to the waves and the beach down the stairs all made for a relaxing week. The space was fine, nothing fancy, but so many mirrors, all of the walls in the master bath were mirrors. For the location I would rent this place again.

Not really for seniors

The only communication with manager was text message which was not helpful. Called number but person didn't know where to take trash, or where grills were or anything about remotes for lights in bedroom that didn't work. No outlets by bed for my CPAP machine. Gate code didn't work. Carpet was dirty. Dining room chairs are worn out and falling apart. The room is configured wrong for people to watch TV. TV needs to be higher. The sofas were comfortable and the view was fabulous.

Property is good/Management is terrible

The property is described, but the management company seemed determined to make our stay as uncomfortable as possible. They did not tell us of construction that is on the property right next to this unit which not only is loud, but precluded us from parking in the space described in the listing as being so close and convenient. Check in was disorganized to say the least. A couple days in they contacted us to let us know they were giving the door code to a Home Depot rep to measure for carpet - whether we liked it or not, or whether we'd be there or not. That made us very uncomfortable, especially in the middle of a pandemic and with valuables in the unit. The ad featured prominently the pool, hot tub, tennis courts, etc but they failed to tell us that those had all been closed for several months already due to the pandemic. They even had the nerve to charge an extra fee for use of those facilites. The management just seemed very amateurish. It's too bad because the unit itself is comfortable and has a nice view.

Great location, old condo

Overall, we had a good stay here. The condo has a beautiful location overlooking the ocean, and just 3 flights of stairs to the beach. There are lots of stairs everywhere, to get to the condo, the parking, the beach-so if you can’t do multiple flights of stairs this place is not a good match for you. The things in the condo were either brand new, or very very old. Nice new bed sheets and towels, a nice tv with cable and DVR in every room. The carpet and the big couch are both very old and grimy, and need to be replaced. The couch leaked feathers all over the room and had a odor. The drain in the master bathroom is clogged with some kind of fur/mold/hair that made me want to throw up. The toilets flush very very slow. There were a lot of dishes and cuttlery and glassware, but nothing really matched, and most were either chipped or dirty. There is a coffee pot, but no coffee or cream left for you. There are ceiling fans in every room, which is nice because there is no AC, but it still gets very warm in the rooms. We were unable to open the windows in the living room because none of them had screens, and I was fearful that my toddler would accidentally fall out of the screen less window. Overall, we had a nice time, the location and view are amazing. If the owners would put a little love into the unit and upgrade some things, the unit would have a much more luxurious feel, instead of feeling dirty.

Needs refreshing

When I removed the sheets as required for check out, the pillow I had been sleeping on was blood stained and disgusting! It was filthy! The pillow on the sofa was worn and had feathers coming out. The carpet had several stains and needs to be cleaned. This condo needs to be freshened up. Also, the vanities are too tall, women have to stand on their toes when brushing their teeth to reach the sink! We could not reach or see inside some kitchen drawers they are so high up. I would choose another condo in the complex next time.
