property was selected on basis of 4 bedrooms. Problem areas: 1. entry from garage hazardous without house-side railing 2. mattresses in twin bedroom very thin. 3. living room woodwork in process of repair 4. Basement play tables not very sturdy 5. no railing to upstairs from right angle turn Good areas 1. clean house 2. large wall-mounted TV in living room 3. kitchen in good shape

Great communication, great spot for smores, love the basement, well stocked! if you stay in July the temp upstairs is very hot unless you figure out how to hold the AC temp lower on main floor, and it doesn't return to normal settings after 8hrs on its own. I would definitely come back as the relaxing setting is just right for vaca!

Plenty of room for the whole family, fur babies included! Easy drive to the beach or family friendly water park right around the corner! Will be back!

We rented this to be close to Gingerman racetrack so I paid a little more than I wanted to for the location and the fact it was Labor day weekend. The road is a little busy, I was worried about our dog getting out. The beds are super comfy, but bring your favorite pillow, the house is clean, enough towels throughout, nice knives, well stocked kitchen except apron and serving/mixing bowls. Delicious eggs and apples. Nice bbq with utensils, fire pit was great plenty of wood. Drier door switch is finicky, dehumidifier in the basement would be nice, and better yard furniture. Could use a fence on the north property line.

I think this may be a newer listing which may explain some things, but overall the cleanliness of the house left a LOT to be desired. There were spiderwebs all over, dog or cat hair on couch pillows, musty smells everywhere and the floors were very dirty everywhere and we felt the need to wear shoes or sandals everywhere we went because if we didn’t our feet were filthy within minutes. The owner did explain that they've had issues with their cleaning services and offered to reimburse us for a mop if we wanted to go buy one, but needless to say, this isn't at ALL what we wanted to deal with on vacation. We also kept smelling something terrible and finally found the culprit- a dead mouse under the kitchen sink in a trap. In addition, there was only 1 bath mat even though there are 2 showers and there were only 6 bath towels even though the house can fit 8 people. And oddly there is no AC in either of the 2 bedrooms on the main level. The good about the house - the chickens are definitely a unique touch! Free eggs were nice. The house had plenty of space for up to 8 people in beds and room for blow up mattresses if you decided to. The stairs from the upstairs are very steep though, so be careful! They provided nightlights which were nice to have in the night. It's about 3 mins from blueberry picking, 12 mins from Kids Corner and the Beach, and it is right across from Lake Arvesta. Would have loved it if the 7 acres that it was on had a trail or we knew what else we could check out, but there is a grill, a firepit and of course the chickens! The kitchen was well stocked - even had Tupperware. And the washing machine and dryer were good. The pool table was in terrible shape though, so we didn't try to play at all. I believe this can be a 5-star stay with some elbow grease and updating, but for now, it's a 3 star for us.
