Vacay Verde- A Cozy Beach Cottage

Cottage is within walking distance to all that South Haven has to offer.

This clean well kept cottage is located in the heart of South Haven, a unique lakeshore town, that offers unlimited recreational activities. Whether you are planning a weekend getaway to visit the various wineries and orchards, or kayak the Black River, or stroll the beach, or ride the Kal Haven trail, you will be in close proximity to all these destinations. Also you will have your choice of restaurants on the waterfront and unique shops that are just a short walk or bike ride away. A splash pad was just constructed at South Beach which is providing fun in the sun to many young children and their families at no cost.

Inside the cottage you will find an open layout for friends and/or families to gather, play games, watch movies or simply relax . Outside you will find a "coffee porch" that is perfect to catch the early morning sun. There is also a private backyard to enjoy and is equipped with a gas grill and fire pit. A backyard shed holds many items such as bikes, wagons, beach toys, cooler, and much more for your use when you stay. Come rest, relax and retreat from the busyness of life as well as make memories to last a lifetime.

Cute and Convenient Location
Super cute home! The location was great, just a quick drive to the beach and shopping area. The backyard was great, it gets a lot of shade which was perfect to sit outside during the hot days we were there. The wagon included in the shed was great for the beach since we had multiple beach chairs and drinks to haul through the sand. The issues I had were that it was me, my husband and our parents with both my mother and my FIL with knee issues and the bathtub was so high my mom couldn’t swing her leg into it so she wasn’t able to shower the entire time we were there. (Even with the handle in the tub) I think maybe it should be disclosed that the tub is above average height just so people are aware. Also the stairs may be “up to code” as I read in reviews but they are extremely small and extremely steep and it was really hard for my FIL with his knee injury to go up such steep stairs. There would have been no way my mom would have been able to go up them (which we already had decided they were taking the main floor bedroom anyway) Overall it was a nice stay other than mobility issues.

One month of Me Camp!
I stayed in this charming home for an entire summer month, and it was delightful. Matt and Gina were super responsive and communication was easy and clear. You will need a car as the lake and main streets are not within walking distance, so make sure you have transportation. A lovely stay and one I will never forget!

A great place with great hosts!
We stayed here for a week over Christmas 2023. TL/DR: Yes, yes, YES we would stay here again! Full review: This is a great property in a convenient and safe location in South Haven, about a mile from the beach. Positives: • Super-responsive hosts • Clean, comfortable 3 BR, 1.5 BA • Beds/bedding were of great quality; good sleep • Kitchen had newer appliances and was well-stocked for a short-term stay • Furnace and fire-stove heated the house quickly • Washer and Dryer with supplied laundry detergent • Great TV/Internet package • Yard and shed have just about everything you need for summer fun; bikes, beach equipment, gas grill, etc. • Driveway is long enough for parking multiple vehicles Improvements that could be made (not negatives, just things we feel could be improved over time) • Only one TV (LR); yes, people don’t come to SH for the TV, but in a house with up to seven people in it, one TV will be inadequate (easy fix) • No dressers; a week living out of a suitcase is less than ideal (easy fix) • Sleeps 7 but dining for only 3-5; without more chairs, a large group dinner would be very challenging (easy fix) • Driveway approach is incredibly steep at the street and driveway is not paved; might be a challenge for those with difficulty in walking on uneven ground If we find that we have to stay in a rental next year, there is no question that we would consider Vacay Verde again. For the price of not much more than a hotel room for the week, we had all this.

We had a great time in South Haven. This property is only a mile from the downtown area and the beach. The house was super cute and had all the amenities needed for beach trip. We had easy communication with the owners and would stay here again!

Vacay Verde is a charming cottage with updates and amenities that were perfect for the whole family! The rental was spotless and the host was quick to respond to every question. Great place to stay in South Haven and hope to return again next summer!

M and M Beach Getaway
Great location. all was mostly good at cottage. We wanted to use the bikes, but could not find a wrench to lower seats. Also, the beach "chairs" were too heavy to carry on foot so we drove to beach one day, but didn't use these pieces the rest of our stay. Love South Haven!

Lovely home away from home
Clean and well maintained. Access to a washing machine and dryer was nice to have. Delicious food nearby. Quick drive to the beach. Would be walkable if we didn’t have kids and a ton of stuff ;). Access to a wagon was perfect for lugging our stuff from the car to the shoreline. Would recommend!

This property is not ADA compliant-several trip points,bathtub too high and stairs too steep- not good for older people either (l’m 74). Other than that we enjoyed the cottage. It was within walking distance of several things to do -about a mile. It was clean and even though I slept on the couch ( stairs to upstairs bedrooms too risky) I was comfortable. We enjoyed the s’mores fixings also. Thank you for an enjoyable first trip to Michigan.

Comfortable & Cozy
As a large family it is hard to find rentals that are suitable for sleeping arrangements and space to play. This cottage is exactly as described as has a charm to it like no other. We have stayed twice and enjoy the hospitality of the owners. Having a full kitchen makes cooking easy. Two bathrooms is great for larger families too. I’m sure we will back again!

Good location!
First time to South Haven MI. This home was great for our family of four. Super clean, smelled great, good location and hosts were super nice and helpful. Loved visiting South Beach even though it was cold and windy. Walked Kal-Haven trail and ate at Clementines, both were great. Anxious to come back in the summer, loved this small beach town! South Haven weekend
We enjoyed our weekend in South Haven very much. The house we stayed in is old, but clean & comfortable for our group of three. We didn’t spend much time there during the day, as we were at the beach or exploring the town. We made use of the beach supplies & bikes in the shed. There isn’t a bath upstairs, so I wouldn’t recommend this property for more than four. Also, the stairs to the second floor are very steep & probably not good for very young kids, but for us there was no problem. The location was great.

Relaxing Late Summer Getaway
This cottage is clean, clean, clean! It is well stocked with plenty of provisions, towels, moisturizers and kitchenware. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The short walk to town for great restaurants and shops made for a relaxing late summer getaway. We highly recommend Vacay Verde and will definitely stay here again. Chris and Wes

This home is set up great for a family. Lots of comfortable living space and bedrooms. House had plenty of towels and having access to a wagon and beach chairs in the home was great. Also less than 1 mile from downtown and the beach!

House Served its purpose we just slept there
The house was clean except for the carpet upstairs had an odor of pets/ mildew. Smelled like dog pee to me can't say for sure. All around the baseboards the carpet was brown and needed cleaning or replacing. We had to keep the house at 66 which is very cold for me or the carpet smell would come thru. Didn't not like the cameras on the back of the house common space where you would relax and enjoy the yard. I have rented many homes this is the first one where I felt under surveillance 24/7. Who knows what's in the house? I texted the owner to see if there were cameras inside. They stated no but with all going on outside I was not sure I believed them. Made me uncomfortable, I didn't go on vacation to feel like I was someone's late-night show. People nowadays think evading you with their cameras is okay. I do not. I understand the front door camera for checking in but to have the outside all under surveillance. I did sit in the backyard Friday afternoon the neighbor was out doing yard work and listening to music. I was also enjoying his music. He glanced over a few times and then started burning something so disgusting that within15 mins I could not stand to sit in the yard anymore. I believe that was his point it was obvious. We just slept there and had gatherings with family at local establishments. The house was close to the main strip downtown. We left a day early my comfort level wasn't there between cameras and neighbor time to go.

Everything was great. The only suggestion is to change the trash pick-up date in the binder from Sun. to Mon. evening. The note on the refrigerator is good, but conflicts with what is in the book. Thanks again for such a great place to stay.
