Publié le 14 oct. 2024 sur HomeAwayWe held a family bachelorette party for my daughter. There we 13 women ages from 24-65. The house was perfect. Large enough for us to sit and play games and also sneak away to a quite place. The kitchen was perfect. The house was clean and the beds were fantastic. All 13 women were very happy and impressed with the property. The host was very responsive. I would recommend this for large family gatherings. Thanks for the memories. :)

Family Birthday
Publié le 16 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayThis was a great property for large family sizes. We had young kids 1-4 years old and we all had a blast. The kids loved the large space to play. The many bedrooms made it easy for a quiet nap place. The large kitchen and living room was perfect for accommodating our group. We also enjoyed almost countless hours playing in the water by the lake. It was so beautiful. The host was responsive with questions, kitchen was fully stocked, and beds were very comfortable. The only con was slow internet (we knew this before arriving and downloaded a few movies for the kids) and secondly the house is located at the end of a gravel road (not a big deal but my car will need a good bath). We hope to be back next year.

Roomy family house with lake access
Publié le 2 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayThis is unique property has a lot of room to spread out. The dining room table is ideal for large groups. The sandy beach area is a good spot to check on the wiles of Lake Superior. The river area (just a ten minute walk away) is better for stone skipping, fires, etc. There are only two showers, which takes some coordination for a big group. We enjoyed seeing the waterfalls at Amnicon Falls and Pattison State Parks as well as a day trip to Bayfield and the Apostle Islands.

Beautiful Location

Great for large groups
Publié le 20 août 2024 sur HomeAwayThis property was perfect for our family. Plenty of space to be together. The kids enjoyed the dart board, Pac-Man game and the ping pong table. The location was rural but close enough to Duluth for day trips. We hope to visit again soon!

Unkept Retreat
Publié le 19 août 2024 sur HomeAwayUpon arrival the grass was long. The garage/game room was not habitable for humans. It stunk, the furniture, windows, and walls were filthy. We did not use it at all. Inside the house we had mice run across the kitchen floor and the next day we found two dead rotting mice trapped in a cage beneath the living room sofa. The dead corpses stunk up the room. The master bathroom shower curtain had mold/slime on it and the tile around the toilet was loose and broken and in total disrepair. The large wood dresser were not property anchored and had shims under the feet and presented a hazard to children. Our three year old grandchild opened a drawer and the dresser started to fall but her father was able to hold it up. The carpet on the stairs was old and filthy.
Contrary to the pictures the house has been neglected for a very long time. We have pictures to back up everything we described above. Clearly this was the worse rental we have ever encountered.

While we are sorry to see that you did not have an enjoyable stay, we understand the reasons why you left us this review. We actually didn't hear anything negative from you until almost a day after you had left, considering you stayed the entire stay with no complaints, we had assumed there were some good things about your stay. However, in your first response to us, you informed us that you wanted 40+% of your money back (a sum of nearly $2,000), or you would be leaving us a bad review and would essentially torch us via social media through family and friends, your husband stated that directly in a phone conversation. Considering your family stayed the entire stay with no complaints, and then asked for a nearly $2,000 refund seemed to us like more of a shakedown, or extortion, than a genuine request to make it right. This review even took 45 days to write... Having said that, we do sincerely apologize if your stay was not up to your standards, or ours. Considering that we have had a few 5 star stays since your stay, and that our review rating continues to stay at a 9.6 star ranking as of now, we trust that the rest of the public will see this review as an anomaly, and as an instance where you just can't please everyone. We wish you the best of luck in your future stays elsewhere.

Swam in Lake Superior

Spectacular Family Vacation
Publié le 9 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayOur family stayed here over the 4th of July. I was a bit skeptical when we were winding our way back on dirt roads. We were captivated by how big the house was. Our kids were already there and had put away all the food in the pantry. The property was still quite wet from all the rain they recently received. We did use the beach down the road for the bonfire on the 4thofJuly. The kitchen was one of my favorites. It had windows on both sides. We really appreciated the games and the electronic dart board. Everyone had their own bedroom. This place made beautiful memories for our family.
