Avis The Retreat: Clean, Modern, 2bed, 2.5bath

Our property was built two years ago and is in great condition. Karri is the first guest who has ever complained about a smell. So we went down to the property to check it out. When I got there she said it had gone away but if I came back in the evening it would be there. My cleaner also came and couldn’t smell anything. She did remark that the house smelled the way it always did. Because she cleans a few properties for me, she knows each house by its smell. Which in reality the majority of houses have their own smell. But like I stated before this is a new build and definitely doesnt have mold, nor did I detect any smell of smoke. Karri was insistent that the smell of smoke was coming from our long term renter on the other side of the property, so we even checked out the property and there was no smoke. After a week of stay Karri checked out early and we gave her a full refund for the nights not stayed. If this was a complaint that we had gotten even from one other guest it would give it more validity. However, no one else has thought the house smelled strongly of anything (the neighbor has never been in the house). We do recognize that smells can hit people differently which is why we strive to have a clean and general fragrance free house, but we always strive to work with guests when they have an issue with their stay.
