Very unresponsive host.

We had some concerns which we wanted to get clarification from the host since we were travelling with kids. The host did not reply to any of our messages on the chat nor did they pick up the call even after multiple attempts. The only message we got was something like an automated message with information about how to enter the house with no response to our queries. We are avid travelers and have travelled across the country, to europe, and asia and always prefer homes. But never had such cold response from any of the hosts. We would totally not recommend this home.

This property accommodated our group very well. It's a large property with ample room to spread out. We surprised at how much we enjoyed the ping pong table that was provided! Terri was easy to work with and would recommend this property to others.

Very Spacious

This house had plenty of space for the group we had. It is an older house and that shows. The biggest complaint is that it was listed as having a hot tub which our group was really looking forward to, but no hot tub was found on the property.

Peaceful Perfectly Located

We absolutely enjoyed our stay here. There was plenty of room for all of our children to meet up and have a nice Thanksgiving! Quiet and the Host was very helpful! We plan to return next year!

We had trouble getting into the home but the host was able to take care of that off-site and stopped by later with a new battery for the lock! We loved the large living room with room for all of us to hang out.

Not wheelchair accessible

My family met in Springfield, MO and stayed at this rental. There was plenty of room, and the home was tastefully decorated. However, there were several downsides for our family, and one major issue. we were given a unique key code to enter the rental, but it did not work on at least 2 occasions, and the owner had to be contacted (a common problem with other reviewers). Although there was plenty of furniture, the furniture was not comfortable. The large couch was soft, but provided no support. The smaller couch was a sleeper sofa and provided the only support in the living area unless you wanted to sit at a table. The beds were uncomfortable. One of the beds was completely unusable because the slats kept falling. Another bed sunk in the middle. We stayed 3 nights which is a long time without good sleep. The biggest and the major issue with this property is that it was advertised as Handicap Accessible. We had one guest with us that does not walk. We specifically looked for homes that were wheelchair accessible when we looked for a rental. There was a ramp at this rental, but it ended at a step. There was also another small step getting into the house. The electric wheelchair (at least 200lbs) had to be lifted in and out of the house each time we went anywhere. Once inside, the hallways and bathrooms were not wheelchair accessible nor were the doorways “large” as advertised. I’m not sure how it could possibly be labeled as handicap accessible when the wheelchair had to be lifted into the house and parked in the hallway in order to use the bathrooms. Unfortunately, the owner’s ignorance of “handicap accessibility” made for a very difficult stay and is a poor reflection on VRBO.

Great Place!

Just finished up a weekend stay at Magnolia Cottage. Check in was easy. Property was exactly as described, with clean linens, plenty of towels, cooking supplies and comfortable beds. Lots of room for us and our 3 teens. Loved the huge, comfy couch and ottoman in the living room for watching TV and just relaxing. The ping pong table off the kitchen/dining area was a huge hit! We literally played for hours! Being able to park our suburban in the garage was a nice bonus. Property location was perfect for us to visit our son who lives 5 minutes away. Bass pro is also just around the corner. Will definitely book again when returning to Springfield for another visit.

Unsatisfactory

I will try to be fair in my review, but just hope to inform others of what I experienced. First of all, the house is spacious enough for 8 people, but no more IMO. I took a sports team there of 8 people and can’t imagine having more. The house and appliances are old, but serviceable. The kitchen is very small. The beds are all very uncomfortable and old., very saggy in the middle, so not good for 2 people. My biggest issue is with the host. We should’ve been able to cancel within the 2 week window. When I tried, the Vrbo app would only allow for a 50% refund. I didn’t know exactly what to do, so I contacted the host. The next day she messaged me back and let me know I had to contact vrbo to cancel. By then, the host said it was too late to cancel. The host used a technicality to collect the full payment, instead of refunding us when she know that was my desire because I had a family cancel on me because their little girl had her leukemia treatments rescheduled. I very much did not appreciate that. When I was able to find another family, I asked if I could be refunded for an extra night we didn’t need. I received back a snarky answer. Anyhow, the place was okay at best. But the experience left much to be desired. I hate writing this, but just want folks to beware if you reserve with this host. I will write the same thing here that I wrote to the host - she puts profits over people, in my opinion.

Will booked our property 3 months in advance for the week of Spring break. My cancellation policy is Relaxed and I do not require full payment up front , I allow my guests to make payments. In Will’s booking he did pay half when he booked, but didn’t cancel within the 2 week grace period before their Stay.. Our home has 4 Queen beds, one Double Fold out Couch and a Large sectional Couch so we have Plenty of room for up to 10 to sleep. Will was very angry that he did not cancel before the Policy’s 2week grace period. I’m assuming that this Review is how he has Decided to express his Anger. We have had Super positive Reviews from other Guests. We wish Will and his family the BEST!

A great place for our family!

Our family of six with two little grandkids had a great week here. Snow and extreme cold were met with cozy temps inside and hot showers! We even hosted my parents 60th anniversary at the house when the town froze up and the Christmas decor was just the right touch. Great house, great host, and so close to everything we needed in the Bass Pro area of town. I highly recommend Magnolia Cottage!

Great for big families, quiet neighborhood

Great place. There were 10 of us, 3 adults & 7 kids 11 and up, everyone found a spot. Ping pong table was a hit! Perfect for a long weekend & close to everything. Loved the vintage pink bathroom.
