Excellent remote property
Publié le 10 août 2024 sur HomeAwayGreat remote secluded quiet property in a beautiful location in northern Minnesota. Property listing is accurate and the host was quick to respond to questions. She truly wants every guest to have a great experience. Our cabin was clean, fun decor and had everything we needed. Weather didn’t cooperate but the cabin had games/tv available for us to use. Highly recommended this property.

Perfect Cabin, Absolutely Lovely Host

False advertisement
Publié le 5 août 2024 sur HomeAwayI was looking for a secluded, lakefront rental to do some writing, swimming, biking, and kayaking. This place was NOT secluded, it was one of a bunch of cabins. I was told by the woman who answered the host's door that the property was lakeVIEW, not lakeFRONT, before getting the door rudely closed in my face. It was not at all as advertised, and while I was very disappointed, I did not yell, curse, raise my voice, or make a scene (the owner accused me of this despite her not even being there). I knocked a second time to ask the woman's name, so I could later say "I spoke to so & so," but she told me she was busy doing her hair and closed the door in my face for the 2nd time. I did not want things to escalate, so I got in my car and drove away. The cabin was not secluded, it was not lakefront, and the owner will not work with you to make things right. I could not stay there, I would not recommend it.

Ms. Ressler appears to be disturbed by 2 aspects of our cabin: She does not believe it is secluded and she wanted a cabin directly on a lake.
Our VRBO listing for this cabin states that it is “part of a compound of family cabins” ...“up on a bank set back about 100 feet from the lake with lake views from most of the cabin.” It states that Judy lives in one cabin and that we rent out 2 cabins. The day after this reservation was made, Judy sent her the same document she sends to all guests, with a map of the cabins attached showing that Kingfisher is not directly on the lake and is part of a compound of family cabins. On July 10 Judy sent 2 more notes with information on using the cabin and Things to Do in the area. The first note stated that Judy lives in Loonhaunt cabin.
When Ms. Ressler did not show up for her reservation on July 13, Judy called her and found out Ms. Ressler was unclear that her reservation began on that day. Judy informed her that she volunteered the next day at the National Forest Information Center, and would likely not be home until 4 pm.
Ms. Ressler arrived before Judy. When she was not happy with her cabin, she pounded on the door of our other guest cabin, Thieves Den. She intimidated the guest inside so much that she closed all the blinds and locked the door. Ms. Ressler returned and knocked again, increasing the guest’s concern. She then left at about 3:30 before Judy returned home.
Kingfisher is secluded. We own 40 acres of woods protecting us. You cannot see our neighbors. None of the other family cabins was occupied. A couple in Thieves Den and Judy in Loonhaunt were the only others present. The bear, deer and eagles that have visited our cabins recently certainly find it secluded.
It was plain from our listing and the map sent to Ms. Ressler the day after she booked that Kingfisher is part of a compound and is set back from the lake. If Ms. Ressler wasn’t happy, she could have cancelled her reservation and received a full refund. After she intimidated our guest and left without talking to Judy, she should not expect a refund during the prime time for vacations in Northern Minnesota.

Great place for a family vacation!

The kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards were a hit for the kids, along with the beach. We brought our boat and did good fishing. The description of the property is very accurate. It did rain while we were there so we relaxed in the cabin with games and a movie night. This property is perfect for all ages. The smores and wine was a nice touch. We cannot wait to go back next summer!

North woods

A great place to get away
Publié le 4 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayIt's a beautiful, secluded area right on the shore of Round Lake. Having access to the kayaks, paddleboards and canoes was great. I would rent a boat for more serious fishermen. We happened to be the only ones there, but the private dock, beach, etc. is shared by another rental cabin and the owner's cabin. The cabin is small, but it is just as described and pictured. Very clean. They provided a lot of kitchen items that most do not. Judy is very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely visit again.

Truly a get-away in the wilderness with amenities of great hotel

well-equipped every cooking utensil and pan that we wanted. We received a welcome visit from Judy when we arrived. She made sure we knew where everything was and invited us to ask for anything else we needed.
The smores were great and sitting by the dock and on the large deck were great spaces to relax.
We highly recommend this place.

Publié le 19 août 2023 sur HomeAwayWe had the most wonderful stay at Judy’s property. The pictures/description are very accurate and if you are looking for a wilderness break, this would be an perfect choice.
The hut itself is very well set up for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is well equipped to cook at home. The lounge area is spacious with sofas and a smart TV for quiet evenings, watching a film or playing games. There is a great selection of board games.
The grounds outside the cabin are beautiful with a seating terrace, jetty out to the water to watch the sunset, and a beach with fire pit.
The biggest draw for us was the direct access to the lake, and the boating equipment available for use. There are two canoes, two kayaks, and two paddle boards. We went out nearly every single day to explore the surrounding lake area and were captivated by the wildlife and beautiful scenery.
Restaurant options in the immediate area are okay and there was greater choice when we were in Grand Rapids. The local gas station has a decent range of food for a simple meal. We also bought a fishing license here and the staff advised us on the best places to fish.
Judy was an excellent host. She provided so much information before our stay and was on hand for any questions. We tried a number of excursions suggested in the information book, including a walk to the Lost 40 woodland and a walk and swim at the Sunken Lake.
We would thoroughly recommend this holiday property. Thank you for our perfect stay.

Enjoyed this wonderful family so much! Nice to get to know Jamie, Paul and the children and to watch them enjoying northern Minnesota’s delights. Come again anytime!
