Extremely disappointing

The property is on North St so close to the Old Course for golfers and within easy walking distance of the beach and shops and there is a very pleasant walled garden at the back. There are, however, far more negative aspects. First of all the extremely unpleasant smell of fried food which permeated the property from the moment we walked in to the entrance hall and extending up to our bedroom and bedroom. The bedroom (apparently the standard double) was very small and the en-suite shower room was so small that even the toothmugs were oval so that they could fit on the shelf above the basin. Interestingly there was also a room freshener spray on the shelf. There was nowhere to put one's own toiletries, Only one dressing gown for the two of us. Nowhere to put the quite unnecessary four cushions so we had to put them on top of the wardrobe. The kettle had to be put on the floor so that it could be plugged in as the flex was too short for it to be placed on the desk. Our bed was not made up by housekeeping as we had left the dressing gown on it (nowhere to hang it in the bathroom once the towels were hung on the hook on the door of the shower room to dry). When we asked why the bed had not been made, we were tol that 'it is customary in guest houses if guests leave their belongings out in a room we clean around it'. WHAT? And this is supposedly a 'luxury boutique' property!

Perfect for a Weekend Visit
Publié le 18 août 2024 sur Hotels5 Pilmour is a wonderful place to stay while in St. Andrews. It is very close to everything including the old course, restaurants, shopping, and pubs. It was a very clean, convenient place with tasty breakfast choices!

Very close to all the sights in St. Andrews. Parking is very difficult, though.

We loved our stay in the back cottage. The place was very clean and super cute. My only problem is the wifi in the cottage was really weak so if you need that it would probably be better if you book a room in the hotel part. Otherwise the staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast included was delicious. Very close to the old course. Had a great stay and would definitely stay there again

Brilliant, simple accommodation that’s connected to the fantastic Dunvegan pub. The 18th hole at the old course is a 90 second walk away.
