wonderful secluded hideout but needs updating
Overall, we had a great restful time at Westerhall, Fort Jeudy. The garden, the pool and the patio was lovely although it does get a bit slippery and one of us slipped, fell & got hurt. Suggestion is to put a caution sign up as it rains too and not just from using the pool. It was a secluded house, just what we wanted. The house needs updating to make the stay more comfortable although we understood it was for sale. There are 3 toilets but 1 shower. The bath taps are broken, is unusable so if turned to a shower/bath, it could serve to the 6 people living in the house. There needs to be aircon in the 2 bedrooms downstairs and a proper fan in the living room. Even in the winter, it was pretty hot and uncomfortable at night. The mattress upstairs and the dining room chairs, which are in a precarious condition need replacing. The kitchen is generally well equipped but needs updating with a dishwasher, a better working gas hob. The dryer should be allowed to be used by the guests. The house sleeps 6-8 but provision for making coffee is for 2 persons so a bigger cafetiere is what we suggest so we don’t need to make coffee in 3 bits. There were suggestions how to economise the washing up liquid. In 2.5 weeks we had 1 visit from the cleaners. We understood that during the festive/Xmas period this was difficult to arrange. Finally, the VRBO advert must mention the steepness of the driveway. It was a difficult one to negotiate even with a SUV. Thanks for letting us stay in the house.
