Very good

The hotel needs redecorating, lift sounds creaky and broken, carpet in the room needs changing, beds need improving, shower need better pressure and mould removed
We had a very comfortable mini-break, looking for a seaside hotel with a bit of character, rather than anything bland and corporate. This fitted the bill very well. The rooms are large and understandably a little challenging to heat, but the staff managed well and we had a pleasant and very well-done evening meal on one of the nights.
The staff are pleasant and the public areas are ok but my bedroom was the most depressing hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. Outdated decor, a weirdly low bed with a mattress like a marshmallow, and a shabby bathroom where I couldn’t face using the bath or shower. The 1970s want their hotel back.
Great stay as we traveled the south coast of England. Wonderfully walkable waterfront with a lot of restaurants just steps away. Very nice and helpful service at the front desk, and parking was super easy.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The hotel could do with a good cleaning. The bed is the worst I have slept on and I have used budget hotels. Requested an Iron it took an hour for one to be provided after several calls to the receptionist.
It was an incredible building and my room had a spiral staircase in it! Very old fashioned and a marvel to see. It’s quite outdated though, my cold tap didn’t work and the plughole was quite full with hair so the water didn’t drain… but that was part of the charm of it in a way. If you k own what to expect, it’s great - location, value and view!

Poached eggs!
The whole place was a bit tired and the decor and carpets needed attention. The shower door over the bath kept springing open and water leaked on the floor. Most of the staff were helpful although the breakfast service could be improved. In our first breakfast I asked for poached eggs but was told that I was too late because breakfast had nearly finished although there was 45 minutes left. On the 2nd day I was successful and had poached eggs although chef was not confident with them. They were perfectly cooked and on the next day when I asked again I was declined but when I said they were good the day before I was given them!!

The stay was pleasant and the property is in need of external maintenance but the room was satisfactory. Restaurant food and staff were good. Front rotary entry door very difficult with suitcases.

Hotel is very tired. Needs a complete refurb. Staff are good
Room on 4th floor with a sea view. Bed was comfortable, room we would call, shabby chic, could do with another chair. Towels lovely & white. We have stayed here quite a lot over times the years & are staying again in November. There are a few parking spaces but all were gone by 4pm on a Friday. Had to park in the seafront car park at a cost of £7.50 for 24 hours. We didn’t eat in the hotel. Ate in Forte’s Italian restaurant about 10 min walk from hotel, which was very good. Would recommend hotel.
