They recreated the original House while respecting its unique heritage as being one of the first to have been built at Coral Estate. Sunset House offers a tranquil, informal and relaxed setting, where peace and quiet is the order of the day. You can make yourself at home at the large pool area or find meditation at the private seating adjacent to the caves where the waves roll in. The pool-terrace, while looking out over the cliff, offers an idyllic sea view. You can discover dolphins and sea turtles that frequently swim by. Also, you can watch pelicans, frigate birds and ospreys searching for fish. Hummingbirds and many other birds visit the garden in the early morning and late afternoon. Although the garden is still being expanded, its fruit trees offer a fresh delight of self-grown figs, lemons, guava, etc.
Or you can relax at the friendly and private setting of the porch or enjoy the serenity of the large romantic patio. The outdoor ‘tower dining-room’, next to the family kitchen, is the perfect spot for food and drinks. Because of the shutter doors and windows, the wind regulates well throughout the whole villa.
Sunset House is close enough for you to enjoy many excursions and attractions of your choice which include walking tours and hiking trails along the seashore or in the bush (‘kunuku’) of the former plantation ‘Rif St. Marie’. In the ponds you will find flamingo’s feeding.
These trails have their start at the edge of Coral Estate. Further out, you can visit many other nature reserves or travel to Willemstad to discover its historical and present treasures.
