The place was clean and super comfortable. We enjoyed the close proximity to the beach. We would definitely recommend this place.. comfortable.

Horrible Urine Smell. Rude and Then Unresponsive Host. Terrible Service.

Place smelled horribly like urine upon arrival. And not just like a kids bathroom. The main living area and kitchen smelled like someone had just urinated on the couch and kitchen floor. I have a weak sense of smell and it was still very strong.
It seems likely they would have had someone check or clean the place between guests. If they did, they passed the place to us knowing the significant issue. If they didn't...why didn't they?
Still, I get it that things sometimes go wrong, but what really should concern you if you are looking to book is the complete lack of professionalism in attempting to get my issue handled.
DO NOT EXPECT QUALITY SUPPORT.
No apology for upending our trip in a significant way. No attempt to make things right (that I could see). No responses to any attempts at communication!
Upon arrival, we called the host, who was rude and dismissive. "Does it smell like urine everywhere?" Not the point.
The host said they would send extra cleaning that first night. We had to find another place to stay at the last minute.
The next day I asked for a refund via the VRBO chat. No response.
The place still smelled very badly like urine. I asked for a full refund via the VRBO chat. No response.
I tried doing the VRBO support on day 3, but my mobile signal was not connecting reliably, so the chats kept timing out.
5 days after check in date (we only had 3 nights booked, so I'm now home), still no response! I call VRBO. They put me on the phone with the management agency who says they will talk to the owner and get back to me via email. That was about 5 or 6 days ago. Still no response. And I've followed up with them twice by email and I tried to call once.
It is 10 days since check in date and still no responses!
So, I had to spend 85 minutes on the phone with the bank to file a dispute with my credit card company.

Hi David, the homeowners were surprised to read your review, as they are accustomed to providing 5-star experiences, and would like to clarify the following:
As soon as we were notified of the unpleasant smell, our Guest Contact and cleaning crew went to the home to provide immediate assistance. They did a whole walkthrough of the home, and there was no urine smell. The only smell present was a fresh, clean lemon smell. Had this been an issue, our team would have resolved the issue right away.
