Nightmare First Time VRBO Booking

Booked a month in advance. I emailed the host with no response, first indication there was a problem. Was supposed to receive check in instructions three days before trip and nothing. I emailed, texted and left voice messages with the host however, all went unanswered. I contacted VRBO the day before I was to leave and they couldn't get ahold of the host either. I was told to wait until the day of arrival until 3pm then contact VRBO. I called VRBO and no success in contacting host. Fast forward, I had a 12 hour drive from Canada to Bridgeport CT and I was FORCED to call VRBO 7 times, yes 7, during my trip. During the 7 calls, I was hung up on and made to wait on hold for almost 3 hours during the drive. With 5 persons in my group, and no confirmation of a place to stay, this created a great deal of stress for all of us. I HAD TO ARGUE with 6 different people until I demanded to speak with a supervisor. I finally was able to speak with a nice lady by the name of Zyrel who booked us a hotel stay for the first night. We ended up staying at the hotel for the entire trip as I didn't want to have to search for a new place wasting my vacation doing so. My main ISSUE is I shouldn't have to argue with VRBO to ensure a place to stay when the issue was NOT my fault. This is why VRBO charges a fee when booking, to cover the cost for issues like mine but don't make your customers call 7 times and have to argue to find a place to stay, the day of arrival. Unacceptable!!

Terrible!!!

I reached out to communicate with the property owner three times within the month prior to arriving. I was leaving to go to the property at 12 noon and I received a text message two hours prior saying that my reservation was canceled the day we were supposed to check in, two hours before leaving in our car.

Close to the capital theater

We stayed with John for a concert at the capital theater, which is only about 20 minutes away. It was perfect for what we needed, much bigger than the pictures showed. Only complaint was that the balcony door did not lock/ shut completely so there was a slight draft in the apartment, other than that, it was a great stay!

Great Location

The apartment was in the perfect location for us to walk downtown and still be close to our friends who live nearby. The apartment was very clean, smelled quite nice, and John’s check-in instructions were easy to follow. The amenities are relatively bare-bones, but the location made grabbing coffee, breakfast, and other essentials very easy. Having a parking spot was an added bonus. We would stay here again!

East stay in great downtown location

We were here for a brief stay. The apartment is exactly as pictured in photos. It was an easy stay. The place was clean and the location can’t be beat. The property manager John was very responsive and helpful. We would recommend staying here.
