SOUTH RIVER COTTAGE
“The” place to get Un-Plugged!

Nestled in the South River Valley in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, South River Cottage, a completely private home, is situated between Charlottesville and Harrisonburg, VA. The Cottage has been newly renovated, refurnished and expanded to accommodate even the most discriminating guests.
The newly added sun porch features a convertible couch with a fold out queen sized bed and incredible mountain views from all windows.
The east wing of the cottage features the Master bedroom with king bed and large closet, the Guest bedroom with queen bed and large closet and a third bedroom with bunk beds.
The expanded Kitchen features a breakfast bar, island & granite counters, gas stove, microwave, toaster, Keurig, dishwasher, & French door refrigerator over freezer drawer and a stacked washer & dryer unit in the kitchen closet. The kitchen opens into the Family Room where a large sectional couch; 42" flat screen Dish TV with streaming services available are located.
The semi-formal dining room seats six; with views of the mountains and is connected to the Great Room where there is a convertible couch: queen size fold out, a laptop friendly workspace with space for a computer, comfortable chairs to relax in and a 42" flat screen Dish TV with online streaming services available.
Weather permitting; an outside patio area, with cushioned furniture, is located on the west side of the Cottage and offers unbelievable views of the evening sunsets.
The Cottage also features:
• Free access Wi-Fi (contact owners for password)
• Plenty of towels, bed sheets, soap, and toilet paper
• Safety equipment including a fire extinguisher, carbon monoxide and smoke detectors and a First aid kit

Beautiful cottage with stunning views.
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would definitely do it. The cottage is all you can dream of. Better in real than on the photos. I wish we would have stayed much longer (4 nights) as it was such a beautiful and relaxing cottage. We spent a lot of time relaxing in the sun room. The location is great, just a short 15-20 min drive to Shenandoah National Park. The cottage has everything you need and more. And finally, the host Judy has been so accommodating. A big thank you to such a great host. Definitely the place to stay when visiting this part of VA.

The property is exactly as advertised. We found it to be clean, quiet and well stocked. We enjoyed visiting some wineries during the day and a quiet evening at the cottage at night. We would definitely stay here again.

Girls Weekend
We had a delightful time in this cozy and comfortable cottage home. It was very room, with all the different living areas to enjoy. The mountain views surrounding the property are amazing. The small town of Standardsville was delightful. Everyone was so kind. Our meal at the Lafayette Inn was wonderful. We are already talking about our next stay.

Perfect farm cottage

A slice of heaven
While it is true, as other reviews have suggested, that this fabulous place is a tad off the beaten trail, it is soooooo worth it. The drive through the country to get there was restorative all on its own! Privacy with a view out of every window. Every amenity one could need has been provided. The quiet of the country is soothing, but adventures of every sort are not that far away. In fact, there is a world class pizza place a mere 7 minutes away:) Directions are clear; expectations are detailed in a helpful fashion. We truly want to come again....

A Little Piece of Paradise
My hubby & I really enjoyed “the cottage on the farm”, it was very peaceful & relaxing. It is off the beaten path….Great location…easy to get to. We seen deer, a fox, & we believe a ground hog, not really sure….it did go in a hole!🤣 If you’re ever in the area, we highly recommend this place. Judy has great communication!

Amazing Place with Gorgeous views
We would recommend this place to anyone. Location is perfect for vineyards and access to Shenandoah National Park. Judy was an amazing host. The place was very well stocked with items for cooking. We had ordered steaks from her farm and they were so delicious, we even took some home. The accommodations made you feel at home. The sun room was our favorite room. It was so peaceful and quiet. Definitely coming back here on our next stay in Virginia!!! Thank you again

Our stay on the farm was so relaxing. We were able to go into the Shenandoah a couple of times and also visited Monticello. The place was immaculate and we had everything we needed and more while we were there. Definitely plan to return.

This was our second stay at Judy's property. We had such a great time the first time, we invited family to join us for our second visit. Perfect end to our vacation
We loved staying at this house. We both relaxed out on the enclosed porch, enjoying the view of the rolling hills. It was an amazing (and delicious!) surprise to find farm fresh eggs and homemade banana bread waiting for us in the fridge. We loved ending our vacation at this quiet house on the farm. Absolutely beautiful!
Very beautiful and exceptionally clean farmhouse. The sun porch was an added bonus. The treat of banana bread with chocolate chips was delicious. Farm fresh eggs were also available. The owner gave us contact info., and called us upon our arrival. She respected our privacy and we never saw her. The views from this property are gorgeous! I definitely recommend this cottage/property. It was very quiet and relaxing. The only noise was from the vehicle when the guy came to feed the bulls in the field beside the house in the mornings. It wasn’t loud. I drank my morning tea and watched him feed the bulls. They look like gentle giants. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway in a farm setting, with the beautiful mountains all around, I highly recommend this place. You will not be disappointed.
