Far enough to feel like you're alone in nature, close enough to Stanthorpe that it isn't a hassle to go out. Dinner meals were all fantastic. Sunday warm breakfast was great, sadly they don't do it every day. Room was clean. Saw Kangaroos and some lovey fish in the pond.

Customer care lacking

Nice bushy location. Check-in wasn't very personable but did get a nice basket of goodies Nice suite with fireplace. Garden needed a weed in my suite and cobwebs all around building so some upkeep required to buildings. Door difficult to lock also. Didn't make dinner as they expect orders early. I had to call an ambulance as we were leaving for my friend who was taken to hospital and no-one came to check on us and they only called me afterwards to find out whether it was covid related and they would need a deep clean.

Hi Michelle, My name is Dee. My husband and I own Granite Belt Retreat and Brewery. As you can imagine, it is disappointing to hear your feedback re: customer care lacking. Guests come to stay with us to have a private, quiet escape to the bush. We pride ourselves on our friendly, warm customer service so to hear that you didn't get a very personable check-in experience is a surprise to us and will be discussed in our weekly staff meeting. When I got to work for the lunch shift on the day of your departure, our receptionist told me that an ambulance had turned up to one of the rooms. She said that the keys were just dropped at reception, therefore she did not feel it was right to pry. As the owner, I made the decision to call you immediately to check on the patient and to also confirm if the emergency had any relation to Covid 19. I have a duty of care to all guests - incoming, outgoing and also to our staff, and wanted to ensure that the patient was doing OK at our local hospital and wanted to ensure that our housekeeping team was not at risk by entering the room. I was relieved to hear that the patient's emergency was not Covid related. We discussed the option of sourcing a room for you for the night in case you needed it and you said you would only call me if you needed accommodation for another night. I passed on my best wishes for the patient, and we didn't hear back from you. I'm really sorry that you did not feel that our efforts were enough, and will discuss this with our team so that we can improve in the future. Thank you for your review Michelle. We were happy with our cabin but disappointed in the breakfast basket. It was very simple and not sufficient for two people for two breakfasts. I did complain and was given extra.

Cabin was dated but comfortable (would stay again). Breakfast was a basket with hard bread for toast in the morning and a bottle of apple juice made on site. Lots of nice cafes in town for real breakfast though. We had the $45/head dinner (main and dessert). Food was nice pub food though it can get busy and we were forgotten. One hour after dinner we gave up waiting for dessert and as we head for the door they said it was ready, we then asked for it to be takeaway to have back in the cabin which turned out nicer but an ice cream cup and a slice of apple pie really is not worth the wait. Besides the head scratching over dessert the place was good. Wish we'd arrived earlier to explore the walking tails mentioned around the property.
