Booked New Year package and was certainly not worth what we paid for , wouldn’t book for new year again , very poor entertainment was like something from a cheap kids party and selection of drinks available in function suite poor and when enquired about just got told by staff it was too bad would have to walk length of hotel and up stairs to bar to get as they wouldn’t bring to function suite , Guests at our table who had travelled form down south actually left and went out to a local pub Very poor showing from such a lovely establishment and got nothing but lip service when many guests complained

Collapsed mattress and reported on day 1 and nothing was done. Reported at check out and emailed manager as poor customer service. We have gone there nany times over a 10 year period and first time with an issues. Restaurant also extortionate with limited menu. Not worth the cost our bill was at the end of meal

The tried so hard, but in the end it didn't matter
Very disappointed. The room we were given should not have been used. Loose bathroom floor tiles, the TV had to be replaced after the first evening, the TV remote was some off brand thing that maintenance had to reprogram after not working either. There was no toilet paper when we arrived. So up and down to reception over and over... And could I complain to someone senior? Nope, all they could do was send an email and I never had any response by the next day when we checked out. A nice place but very much past its prime and run on the cheap. Things happen, maybe I got unlucky with the room but the final nail was the fact that this traditional hotel at the foot of the highlands doesn't even keep brown sauce to go with your full-english in the morning and that really is just poor...

Fantastic place to stay, just needs improvement!
We stayed during the bisy festive season and departed Xmas day. Brilliant place, great history to the site and building itself, lovely placement in relation to the castle, old jail, back walk and town. Warm and friendly staff. Room perfectly welcoming with a small second room next to it for children. Bathroom needs an upgrade, shower slow , toilet radiator didnt work. However, staff, breakfast and overall stay more than made up for the bathroom. Gym and leisure centre is pretty incredible and equipment excellent so you can pack your work out bag and spend quality time in there.

This property is gorgeous. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They continuously answer any and all questions and give out the best advice of the best locations in the area from restaurants to locations to visit off the normal tourist path.

The property was super convenient to the castle with parking and a restaurant on the property, so that was a plus. The staff was all really nice accommodating. The reason for a 4 star review is the shower had what appeared to be mold in it.

Bring your earplugs
If you are looking for rest, avoid this hotel on the weekends. The hotel hosts weddings and parties, and I was kept up all night because of the loud music and shouting from those smoking in the parking lot outside my window. Then, when the celebrations ended, the couple staying next to my room came back at 2:30 a.m. and continued their partying and music. Given that the room had thin connecting doors, I felt like I was in the same room. At one point, I could even hear the guy fart. This didn't end well because they got into a big argument and started yelling at each other, which lasted until 7:00 a.m. when she finally walked out of the room. I could not wait to get out of there!
