A place with real character, which isn't for every
Publié le 27 juill. 2016 sur HotelsThe place is run by enthusiasts, motivated by the architectural significance of the 60s hydro-electric project. If that rings your bell, go for it. If not, think twice. The food is good and honest, I enjoyed the local trout for dinner and hand smoked salmon for breakfast (you can tell it's the real deal because there's the odd bone in, a machine wouldn't miss that). Apart from the food, view, nature, history, architecture and some pool access I didn't use, there isn't much else. No disco, no 24 hr room service, no turn down service, no chocolate in your pillow, none of that useless onboard magazine fluff. Apart from the blazing fast WiFi perhaps. Do your research properly, if you like this stuff it's a five, if you don't it's your own mistake.

Publié le 20 juin 2016 sur Hotels

Thank you for your review and for staying at Energihotellet.
It is correct that almost all off our rooms are without safe, fridge or closet and we are going to keep it that we, since that is a part of our concept Energihotellet is a historic minimalistic design hotel, the focus in the rooms are good beds and and beautiful view, the interior in the rooms are minimalistic.

Great view with lovely staff
Publié le 21 mai 2016 sur HotelsThe hotel provides a beautiful view, and the hotel staff were lovely- helpful but not intrusive. When we stayed there we were the only guests we saw, but we still had a full breakfast buffet with many delicious local meats and cheeses. On the not-so-great-side, the hotel looks like it hasn't changed since the 70s. To be honest it's a little ugly, and it's also in the middle of nowhere.

Dear Kahtryn,
Thank you for your honest feedback.
The hotel is from the 60s and part of an architecture named top 10 in Norway (modern buildings), but the functionalistic/brutalistic style is a little different:).
We try to change as little as possible with the original building, we are a historic hotel (member of Historic hotels of Norway). We agree that our location is "in the middle nowhere" (but also central when touring the fjords, midways between Preikestolen and Trolltunga), that is part of our concept, we are located in a small village, where the nature (hiking) and silence are factors we try to provide to our guests.
We know that the "brutalistic/functionalistic" style and the location in "the middle of nowhere" is not for everyones taste, but it looks like you enjoyed your stay anyway which is nice to hear:)
Thanks again for your honest feedback and we hope you will enjoy the rest of your holiday
