Great hotel to feel the atmosphere of Suzhou

Some one in the restaurant should know a bit of English. Everything else is perfect.

unbeatable location, poor internet

Publié le 25 août 2012 sur Hotels
We came in knowing that there was no wireless in the rooms, only wired and that was fine. Unfortunately that was available only our first of three nights, even after speaking with the front desk staff multiple times requesting it be fixed. It was quite annoying having to make the hike to the lobby (from the farthest room) just to plan onward parts of our vacation. Eventually they said that 'some rooms' had been fixed but it was either a lie or didn't include ours. Additionally one of the rooms we had looked out on the rather nice main courtyard, but the other was looking out at a wimpy garden, and quite far from everything else.

A beautiful and peaceful hotel.

Emplacement : For a delicious breakfast, visit the takeaway steamed dumpling stall around the corner from the hotel. You can choose from about 25 varieties!
This was a beautiful, peaceful hotel with staff who were hard working and very willing to help. Recorded traditional music playing throughout the hotel added to the relaxing atmosphere. Great location close to the Silk Museum, Suzhou Museum, Lion Forrest Garden, Humble Administrator's Garden and shopping streets. The only complaint we had was that the fridge in our room was not cold. When I spoke with reception staff about this I was told they have a normal temperature of 25 degrees C! They allowed us to store food in the restaurant fridge but this was less convenient. It helps to take printed copies of the Chinese names of places you want to see in Suzhou as the hotel staff don't know the English names so can't help with directions if you don't know the Chinese names. We enjoyed the hotel so much we stayed an extra (4th) day.

Well located and comfortable

Publié le 1 déc. 2011 sur Expedia
We stayed 2 nights at Suzhou Garden View Hotel in early November 2011. The hotel is more traditional in style than the other hotels we had in China. There is a very nice garden in the inner courtyard where we enjoyed our morning coffee. This is an ideal place to relax or check your email. There is wifi in the lobby and in the garden. The room was OK; it was comfortable enough, even though not very large. We prefer tile floors (or any hard surface), but the rug was clean, so it was not really an inconvenience. Our room was clean and the hotel seemed well maintained. Breakfast was included; there was a good variety and the food was good, but not outstanding. The hotel is very well located, in the heart of downtown. Master of the Nets Garden, the Silk Museum, the Pagoda and the Humble Administrator Garden, all interesting sites to visit, are all within walking distance. The shopping district is on the next street; there is a Buddhist temple in the shopping area where Chinese go to pray and burn incense; this was a memorable experience for us. Lots of restaurants nearby also. We would not hesitate to go back to this hotel.

Very pleasant experience

Publié le 25 mai 2011 sur Expedia
We were impressed by the Suzhou garden ambience of this hotel, pleasing small details (like the weather forecast left in our room every evening) and the pleasure of listening to the girl playing her guzheng in the garden after dinner. Staff could not have been more helpful. Altogether a charming place in a charming city.
