When we stay in Sydney, we always choose The Great Southern Hotel. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. The staff friendly and helpful. The light rail is close by and it is easy to get around. Also a nice breakfast for a reasonable price.

Great location, 20 minutes or so walk to circular quay and 15 minute walk to Darling harbour. Central station and tram stop across the road. Rooms are a little basic but clean and staff were excellent. Will definitely stay again when next in Sydney

Good, Clean & tidy room with basic amenities. Bed was reasonably comfortable with fan/aircon. Check-in/out was good, friendly & efficient. Price was fair. Quiet. Transportation is at door step or a short walk to most localised places. Breakfast good price. Would stay again. Recommend.

We always love to stay at The Great Southern as it is centrally located making it easy to get to everywhere we need to go. Our only small disappointment is that the showers have extremely low pressure which does not make for an enjoyable shower. Other than that all is good! Merry Christmas to all!

Hotel near main station
The hotel was very near the main station - easy to walk to and back. It clearly had a long history, but the rooms need refurbishing. Ours had sticky carpets and seriously dated decor, however the room was big and there was a kettle and complimentary tea and coffee.
