Highland Cottage is only 700 metres away from Leura Mall at a quiet side of the street. This original 1920 beauty is recently renovated with modern amenities. Sipping a glass of wine in front of the fireplace or a cup of tea in the nostalgic sun-room, you can hold an imaginative dialogue with the miners who built this cottage while Leura was surrounded by bush a century ago. Come and experience a unique modern country life at the most vibrant historical town of Leura in Highland Cottage.

The space

Highland Cottage is ideal for friends and families to experience the authentic Blue Mountain country lifestyle with modern comfort and convenience. We are only 700 metres away from Leura Mall and Leura train station.

Highland Cottage is surrounded by greens. You can find maple trees, lemon trees and even strawberries in the front, back and the side. With its classical layout, you will enter the house through a spacious and bright sun-room. It’s perfect to sip a cup of coffee or tea in the morning or enjoy a glass of wine in the evening while gazing the sunrise or sunset.

All of our three bedrooms are elegantly decorated with luxurious sheets, down duvets, French flax pillow cases, electric blankets and treasure objects.
The configuration of our rooms:

Bedroom One: 1 x Queen Bed, master bed room, window views to the sun-room and front garden.

Bedroom Two: 1 x Queen Bed, window view to the rear garden.

Bedroom Three: 1 Single Bed, kid’s room

We have a cosy and modern lounge where the main entertainment and social area is located. The centre of the lounge is the original fireplace. Surrounding the fireplace, there are digital TV, coffee table and a large sofa.

The central section of the house is a very spacious kitchen and dining area. You will find another original fireplace in this area. It has an old-school cooktop one can still boil hot water on top of it. This area can easily fit 6 people for dinner. It is very communal and perfect to enjoy a family meal or a romantic dinner after a full-day activities in the mountains.

The entire house is decorated with notable artworks from Melbourne based artist Cate Maddie. She is well known for natural still objects with a modern perspective.

Last but not the least, we haven’t forget your furry friends. Our pets absolutely love our house and gardens. I am sure yours will too. Our backyard is a very pet friendly area with lush vegetation and fenced boundaries. Please make sure you will bring beddings and bowls for your pets. We would ask you not to encourage your pets to climb up to our expensive furnitures and beds. Like our human friends, our pets deserve their own space and privacy. Hence there will be a $50 pet fee per stay for each pet. We only welcome maximal 2 pets per stay.

During autumn, the garden is lit up with beautiful maple leaves in golden colour. I am sure this is a great photo opportunity for instagrammers. We would appreciate your full respect to this historical property and the peaceful surroundings. Hence please remove your shoes and allow your feet to feel the natural timber floor. And please do not bring a noisy party to the neighborhood.

Winter is the most popular season in the mountains. Many people love indoor fireplace and firewood. We have prepared reasonable amount of firewood for you to enjoy during the winter months from June to August.

We have prepared reasonable amount of firewood for you to enjoy during the winter months from June to August. Based on our experience, the amount of firewood should be sufficient to get you start for your stay. If you need more firewoods, you can easily buy them from the nearby petrol station. To protect our environment, please consume firewoods responsibly.

Apart from the two fireplaces, we have gas heater that can heat up the lounge/kitchen area quickly.

There are split air-conditioning systems in the two main bed rooms. They will keep you comfortable both in all seasons - warm in winter and cool in summer.

Based on our experience, the amount of firewood should be sufficient to get you start for your stay. If you need more firewood, you can easily buy them from the nearby petrol station. To protect our environment, please consume firewood responsibly.

When you are making a booking, please write down the total no of guests. So we can prepare sufficient towels and linen for your stay.
Since the base rate is up to 4 guests only
If you have more than 4 guests, there is an extra fee of $ 60 per guest per night.

Beautifully decorated cottage in the mountains
We loved staying in this beautifully decorated cottage. We enjoyed using the living spaces and even though it was January it was cool enough one evening to light a fire in the lounge room! It is close to Leura shops and other nearby attractions. It is worth noting that the second bathroom is in an adjoining building. This was unexpected and meant that we all mostly shared the main bathroom that has a lovely leadlight window between the bathroom and hallway.

All you could want
Just the perfect little cottage for a family of 4 + pup. It’s so great to have such a stylish and thoughtfully furnished place available in such a great spot. We did some great bushwalking near Blackheath this time. Dinner at Polar Bear and Jiggle in Leura. Both were fantastic. Kitchen is well set up. I really appreciate the good knives. This is rare!

Nice stay but unfortunately the advertised spa whirlpool does not exist and despite a very new looking large TV set the connections for the aerial are incorrect (adapter required / would be ideal if installed correctly), meaning we were unable to watch anything. We were just outside the winter cut off for provided firewood though still cold so we purchased firewood locally and fire was lovely. Easy walk up to Leura village (bit of an uphill climb). Overall we really enjoyed our stay and perfect for 2 couples thank you

We loved the property. There were 4 close friends. We had a ball. The place was great. It was warm and cosy. The only issue was the fireplace where there was no newspaper or fire lighters. But overall loved the place and would recommend.

Gorgeous property within walking distance to Leura precinct
Whilst the blue mountains is often a cold place to stay, gas heating and a fireplace is provided with split aircons in the bedrooms make it a very comfortable house. The most special part of our stay was, being a pet friendly residence, that we could take our dog with us making it a perfect family getaway.

Lovely Mountains Cottage
Beautifully decorated, comfortable cottage. The rear garden is fully fenced which is great if you are bringing your four legged friend with you. The cottage is about a fifteen minute walk from Leura Mall which is very convenient. Just a warning if you haven’t been to the mountains for a while, parking near many of the attractions and walks is metered so read the parking signs carefully. There is a list on Blue Mountains City Council website of the location of these meters. I would thoroughly recommend this property for a comfortable and relaxing break in the mountains.

A little gem
This is a great option for people who want to be in walking (10 mins) distance of the centre of Leura but are looking for real tranquility. Very peaceful street. Immaculately presented and curated property. As a pet owner it was so nice to have such a high quality offering - none of the rough edges that often appear in pet-friendly accommodation. The only thing slightly wanting was that the kitchen isn't really set up for anything beyond quite basic cooking (though the pantry staples were pretty good compared to many places I've stayed). Thanks Wendy for an all round excellent experience!

Running weekend in the. Blueys
Property was clean and comfortable. Listing was a little misleading as the 3rd bedroom was adjoined to another bedroom which was fine for us but might not suit everyone. The single bed was also a much shorter bed so would not suit anyone who was taller. Also it was advertised as 2 bathrooms when there was only one. Would be nice to have been. Able to wash our running clothes.

Serious problems
The kitchen equipment was lacking small saucepans and the kitchen lighting was poor. We were unable to use the microwave without using our phone lights or wash up properly due to the lack of a light over the sink. The worst feature of the cottage was the water hammer when the shower over the bath was used. It was impossible to use the shower without creating a very loud growling sound throughout the whole house and impossible to get an even flow of warm water from the shower without putting both hot and cold taps on full power which did not suit a number of our party. It was also not clear from the blurb about the cottage on the website that the second bathroom was in another building separate from the cottage which was sneaky and the shower in it leaked water from the base of the shower head instead of water coming out the shower rose which made it unusable. One of the beds had dirty sheets on it. The two back bedrooms were very chilly

The cottage was beautiful. Our dog loved the property also and spent time wandering around the garden outback which is something he doesn’t have at home. Very close to the mall which has a lot of dog friendly options.
