Pour : - good food
- nice view
- convenient for travelling overland by bus (bus to Nuweiba, Sainte Catherine and Cairo at 9 am from Taba bus station)
Contre : - some rude staff at the reception
- very long check in time
- payment in egyptian currency forbidden for foreigners
- noisy and too warm AC
Unlike other hotels in Egypt, for some strange reasons, Nelson Hotel doesn't allow to pay the room with egyptian currency if you are foreigner. So don't keep 50€ in EGP as I did for paying the hotel before leaving Egypt, you will just loose it.
The value is better more in the south of Sinai.

Has to be avoided

Contre : - AC is very noisy and too warm and I was here in winter.
I came to Nelson hotel without reservation but the receptionist told me that, as foreigner, I can not pay in Egyptian pounds. I did it everywhere else in Egypt but in Nelson Hotel, it's forbidden, he told me. As he asked me a quite more expensive price than on expedia, I told him that I'm going to book with the app (israelian signal is better than egyptian on the lobby). The receptionist told me : ok, as you like. 5 minutes later, I showed him the email of confirmation of booking and payment with expedia.
He told me that I have to wait for the manager, first because he's eating at this time. Then he told me that it's because I just booked with expedia.
There was a group of singers from Cuba at the bar, so I spent more than one hour listening the music. Then I came back to the reception and the same receptionist, who was alone, told me that nothing have changed because "in Egypt, it's not allowed to book the hotel with my mobile phone on the lobby", so he doesn't care if I've paid or not, he will NOT give me any room". I couln't figure out how this guy could be so rude. It was later than 10 pm and I came back, miserable, to the bar for listening singers.
Few time later, he came to meet me at the bar, told me some excuses who sounds fake, drive me to the reception where an other receptionist gave me the key of my room.

9/10; if there was a flatscreen tv:10/10 !!
Publié le 11 nov. 2017 sur HotelsCheck-in went smoothly. I was even upgraded to a family room !And the guy at the reception put the wifi-code on my tablet !
There are some rumours on the internet about fees on Egypt/Israelian side of the border: I never had to pay anything !Nothing on the Israel side and nothing on the Egypt side.It'll take half an hour to pass.
The value I got on booking this hotel is way higher than the same hotel on the Israel side of the border.
The hotel has a wonderful restaurant with very friendly staff.The beach is clean and quiet.Everyday I saw people maintaining the pool,garden,beach,...
I went out twice very early and I got a breakfast with me that was too much to eat!It was give to me in a paper bag which is not handy;better a plastic bag I think.
At night I slept well,the beds are very good !The pillows are too soft. And the television is really too old and too small.Ask a few dollar more and put a decent flatscreen in every room 'cause this tv does not fit in a beautiful hotel like this !
Check-out went fast but I did not get a bill;the receptionist just said : I need...Dollar from you ...
All in all: I would defenitely recommand this hotel to all my friends !!

Hotels pour groupe
Publié le 28 juill. 2011 sur HotelsCet hôtel semble ne recevoir que des groupes dont les participants sont munis de bracelets pour les identifier..Etant en solos, nous nous sommes de multiples fois heurtés à des interrogations à ce sujet..Un peu dérangeant et la sensation d'être "à part", néanmoins le séjour était traès bien (plage et piscine très agréables, dommage toutefois que cette dernière soit fermée assez tôt en soirée et que durant la journée les gens réservent leur transat avec leur serviette sans y venir....)

Hôtel Hilton à Taba (Egypte) à 15km d'Eilat
Publié le 11 mai 2011 sur HotelsLes + : - Situé directement au bord de la mer et doté d'une plage privée offrant chaises longues, serviettes de bain, parasols, hamacs, c'est un lieu de villégiature où il fera bon revenir se resourcer.
- Les buffets sont généreux, frais, soignés, variés; la restauration à prix raisonnable; le personnel courtois, attentif, et professionnel;
- Snorkeling, plongée, quad, yoga, etc, kidsclub animentt le séjour.
- Des pavillons du Nelson Village sont équipés de rampes pour favoriser l'accès en fauteuil roulant.
Les bémols :- Le chemin entre le Nelson Village et le bâtiment principal mériterait d'être rénové -surtout si l'on pense aux fauteuils roulants! et mieux éclairé.
- Pour qui n'est pas en pension complète, il manque un petit magasin d'alimentation où l'on pourrait acheter des fruits, yogourts, etc. D'autant plus qu'il est interdit d'amener de la nourriture depuis l'extérieur de l'hôtel.
- En venant d'Eilat : prévoir qu'on doit laisser sa voiture de location en Israel, et prévoir du temps pour les formalités de passage en Egypte.
- Notre séjour dans cet hôtel s'insérait dans un circuit en Israel, et c'est par surprise que nous nous sommes retrouvés en Egypte, car sur le Net nous cherchions sous "hôtel à Eilat", et c'est seulement au moment où nous avons finalisé la réservation que fut indiquée clairement sa situation en Egypte
Au final cette surprise nous a permis de goûter un endroit dans lequel sans cela nous ne serions pas allés; par ailleurs nous avons trouvé avant la frontière un parking où laisser notre voiture de location et Dieu merci tout c'est bien passé.

Publié le 25 avr. 2011 sur ExpediaGrand hôtel aux infrastructures vieillissantes (notamment installations extérieures). Prestations restaurations variées, mais mobilier vétuste et taille du restaurant très insuffisantes (60 pers en attente pour le petit dèj)
