Secure this relaxing rural getaway by joining us. We offer two camping cabins, combined to sleep up to 4 adults (possibly 6 with 2 extra children's camp beds). The cabins are situated in a secluded piece of the farm, with farm pets running free.
Take life at your own pace and choose what to do when it suits you. Our farm is an open space of paths, hills, virgin forests, and streams to explore and discover. We even have caves for those experienced enough.
Pioneer Cabin, sleeps 2 (double or twin), we can put in a trundle bed if needed as an extra child or small adult. We recommend children from 10+ but open to discussion with conditions.
The accommodation price is with guests being self catering and supplying their own bedding and bath towels (all beds have mattress and pillow protectors and hand towels), Because we are off-the-grid, we have to wash bedding off-site which incurs an extra charge. However, if you are unable to supply your own bedding & towels you can hire them when booking.
The farm experience is really what this holiday is all about, enjoying the exclusion of other tourists and the vast Tasman views. however, It's the perfect location to access the Abel Tasman and Kahurangi National Parks, Harwood Hole, beaches, and townships all within a 30-minute drive and ideal for day trips to Golden Bay or Nelson.
Hidden Valley farm is a true Kiwi experience, off the beaten track!
Your Space: Pioneer Cabin: You will stay in our cozy “stone cabin” with an outdoor gas shower and flush toilet close by. The quaint doors open to an incredible mountain and sea view. There is a double /twin bed for your convenience. The covered camping-style kitchen and dinning area is attached to the cabin, with a coal Bar BQ and gas ring, a small sink, and a cold box for your immediate needs (We supply the ice blocks - a communal fridge/freezer is available at The Shearing Shed).
Enjoy your morning cupper or a perfect evening tipple on the veranda while in the company of our resident farm pets and wildlife. Indulge in the breathtaking view enhanced by nature's changing scenery and birdsong. Outside is a diversely creative outdoor living space encompassing an open fire-pit, the Initial firewood/charcoal is provided with additional supplies available on request (at $20 per bag) or you can bring your own. So sit back and relax - light a campfire, toast marshmallows, and enjoy the amazing star studded night sky.
Phone reception can be irregular - however, with the cabin having solar power you can keep your phone charged up for taking those memorable photos.
For your comfort we recommend bringing gum-boots, warm jackets, a torch and insect repellent.
Settlers Cabin/Bunks: is a small bunk cabin which can be booked separately or as an addition to a Pioneers Cabin. This offers exclusivity.
Note: For your enjoyment and safety we recommend that the farm may not be suitable for children under the age of 10 years old, alternatively please get in touch for prior arrangements so you understand our environment.
Hidden Valley Farm is not a one-size-fits-all type of venue. We are open to discussion and tents and self-contained campers can be negotiated too.
To get here follow directions to 1356 Takaka Hill Highway. Our driveway is signposted "Hidden Valley Farm". (To open the gate, pull the post towards you and unclip) Once you enter through the gate follow the driveway heading up to 'The Shearing Shed’ where you will see a guest parking sign. Beyond this point and for the safety of your vehicle access is 4-wheel drive only. Guests must ring ahead and we will meet you at The Shearing Shed, to asses if you can drive up or for us to help transport luggage to your accommodation. You can enjoy a leisurely walk in the country air after your long drive or hop in the vehicle with us.
This is a large farm so letting us know your expected arrival time means we can meet you at the time arranged. As there are farm pets roaming free here, we ask for the gate at the start of the property to remain shut and other gates you find along the way. Depending on the chooks mood fresh eggs may be available for purchase daily. Children get them free when they find them.
Sadly no easy / wheel chair access is available, however if you have a solution we are more than happy to discuss your needs.
If you need help during your stay, you can call or txt Terri on 027 526 8771. If you can't get hold of Terri, she will visit at 10am and 4pm for daily servicing (toilet cleaning etc) so you can grab her then, or leave her a note in the letter box at the camping gate. For emergencies please call 111
