The hosts were on property, friendly, kind. The room was spacious, modern, clean. Breakfast was available when we wanted it. Swimming pool was lovely. Iguanas, birds and fauna were a bonus! Would absolutely return!

The manager wasn't by the time I went to check in (330pm), nor left a person in charge, I rang the door bell, I've called 9 times and no one answered, sent messages same thing. I went around the property where I didn't supposed bc those are private properties and there is no road, I yell until someone came, I then turned around and a customer let me in; saying that she wasn't there and told me to come back at 7 pm. I had to leave and come back at night, people who were in the property said they had the same issue and same thing happened to another couple they talked to the day before. She called me later on and was very apologetic, t
elling me that she had sent me a message with instructions, I was at that moment reading the message she said she had sent me hours earlier, I do not know how long it takes from a manager to contact Expedia and Expedia to deliver the messages, but keep in mind that not always people have access to Wi-Fi and/ or has a Sim card from the country they are visiting to. This isn't professional at all. I was with my luggage going everywhere bc she was not attending the position she has to. She made me feel very uncomfortable asking me many times about my friend who went with my husband and me to make sure we had a place to sleep, she was thinking that my friend and son (who I had explained many times) they were locals and I would never do such a thing like that. I do have 20 years of experience in this industry and this is how you don't run a hotel.

We visited Costa Rica during the busiest time of year, NYE! Claire and Steve are great hosts. This is a small intimate property. It is about 10-15 minutes from Tamarindo. We did not have a car and Claire and Steve were nice enough to call taxis for us to get into town for dinner each night. They also prepared a lovely simple breakfast each morning. They are both very knowledge about the area and can assist with tours. The rooms are simple and cleaned everyday. It's a great location to get away from the hustle and bustle of Tamarindo beach.

Well if you want to be extorted, given no breakfast, kidnapped / locked into property against your will, invasion of privacy, constant intrusion into room, blowing up of phones & overall criminal landlords, this is the place for you. If you want to waste your vacation going to the US Embassy to report these crimes, Please stay here!

Let me bring few precisions you didn't mention in your comment, first of all we are not used to practice "séquestration" with our guests, we just blocked the gate because you were leaving without paying with your car full of luggage, then we noticed you were bringing with you our towels and other accessories of the hotel, also i would like to add that i came one time in the morning to clean the room and arrange the bed (sorry just doing my job as an owner of bnb is supposed to do), and of course preferably when clients are outside, concerning your phone i m very sorry you broke it, and it's not my responsibility, to finish i will welcome with many pleasure a member of the US embassy to let them know the situation and make you listed as thieves in the US as you are already listed here in Costa Rica!
