I have stayed at Rooms many times but there were some notable changes this time. These include: 1) the staff were not as friendly, personable and helpful as in the past; 2) the wait staff in the restaurant were not attentive to coffee refills, removing plates and being helpful as before - though the food and cook staff were outstanding; 3) I asked for bottle water and was told it was in plastic bottles in the cabinet but when I checked out, I was told that these were to be paid for and that the free water should have been outside on the dresser - this was odd in that I asked for bottled water several times and none was delivered; 4) the doormen/security were like "thugs" - never smiled and never friendly (and certainly not helpful). There was an older couple who could not easily carry their bags up the stairs and the doorman just stood there so I carried their bags. Not the service I am used to.
