Wonderful trip!
Posted Aug. 10, 2024 on HomeAwayWe had a wonderful time on our 1 week stay! Check in process was very easy, quick boat ride from the parking lot! Just be aware that there is limited space for boat trailers, we had to pull outs up onto a rock. Just to be prepared!
The cottage was very comfortable! Great table for games, cozy couch, nice washroom, the window ac was very welcome with the heat wave! Lots of outdoor space, and it felt very private!
We spent lots of time at the dock or out on the boat fishing, great fishing and so much water to explore;
We boated 15 mins to point au baril one day for gas and smash burgers.
My only suggestion for the hosts would be fans for the bedroom and having one designated cupboard space for guests to store food while there.
Thanks for the wonderful stay!!

beautiful place
Posted Sep. 17, 2022 on HomeAwayI've summered at Georgian Bay for all my 70 years, and had to sell our cottage last year. This rental was a surprising delight. I particularly loved the multiple outdoor places to sit. Lots of privacy outdoors, if not in. The swimming is sublime. We saw lots of wildlife including a swimming bear. Everything indoors worked well. This is a way to have a rugged outdoor experience in beautiful Georgian Bay, with lots of comforts. I highly recommend it.

Georgian Bay Island Cottage experience
Posted Aug. 7, 2022 on HomeAwayWe had a good week exploring the Georgian Bay islands. From my perspective it is one of the world's most beautiful landscapes. The cottage and property provide a good cottage experience.
The mattresses are new and comfortable. I instantly loved the choice for the bedding and pillows are good. A recent renovation of the bathroom makes you forget you are in a cottage. The kitchen is very well equipped and has a full array of spices and veg oil. There are many seating areas on the property; on the point facing into the large channel/bay; comfy chairs/couch under the trees, bench above the dock; chairs on the dock; screened-in (mostly) porch on the deck; picnic table on the deck. Because there are many seating areas you can get sun or shade, wind or protection.
The property is quite private. Although there are other cottages on the island they are not really within sight. Even though our stay was during the long August weekend we felt like we were alone. The view from the cottage isn't spectacular because the cottage is in the cooler treed area but there are lots of places with good views for star gazing - e.g., at the small sandy beach - and it is a rare find to have a small beach on Georgian Bay. .
The satellite for TV works well. Remember that you will need to use your cellular data plan to get connection to the internet because there is no wifi (although we used one personal hotspot to deliver wifi to the cottage through our cellular data plan). We used our cellular data pretty extensively and used about 2 GBs a day - in case you want an estimate. Bell/Telus has a strong signal. Rogers data was sporadic but fine for a cellular phone call.
The kitchen storage area for your food is very minimal and I have suggested an idea to the owner to improve that. We brought our own drinking water and your other option is to boil lake water. There is a dishwasher with instructions on how to use it.
I wished for more air flow in the living area. You can't really leave the sliding door or kitchen door open because of wildlife potential. But there is air conditioning.
Parking was at a premium because it was the August long weekend but we snagged the last spot. I think most days it probably wouldn't be an issue finding parking. The dump was closed but the owner promptly told us about the McDougall Transfer station which wasn't out of our way, and it is open when the closer dump is closed.

GB bliss
Posted Jul. 31, 2022 on HomeAwayThis property has a lot of space to play in and out of the water, sun or wind. Different weather in different spots makes it ideal to adjust. Cottage is simple and has all the amenities you need.
It is GB so it is not your typical cottage country. Boating in that area is easy Compared to other areas of the bay. We had an amazing time

Great stay
Posted Jun. 30, 2022 on HomeAwayEasy access, beautiful location. The parking lot is a bit narrow and can get busy. Cottage is beautiful. Would go again.
