Ocean in Front, Lake in Back, Dog-Friendly, Dock with Kayak & Rowboat

Your new favorite vacation rental is just across the street from the sand on the delightfully isolated Cape Meares spit. The home has expansive views from every window. The Pacific In front, Cape Meares Lake and the coastal range in back. Watch the sun and colors and clouds changing as the day meanders along.

Venture out the front door for a beach walk or launch the tandem kayak from the backyard. You may see Elk, Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, Osprey and more. The area is rich in history, flora and fauna. When you tire of the great outdoors, put a log on the fire, nestle up and enjoy the “modern rustic” ambiance inside. Read about the nearby town that fell into the sea, (the book’s at the house) and enjoy the distraction of the landscape. Storm watching is great as the clouds roll off the ocean, under the house, and resurface on the lake.

The house features a Great Room (kitchen & living), large deck with grill, wood stove (with free firewood), laundry washer & dryer, 2 bedrooms with 1 queen size bed in each, and 1 bath. The expansive sofa easily converts into 2 twin-sized beds and comfortably sleeps 2. House sleeps 6 total. Free WIFI Internet. No landline phone or television.

The kitchen is fully stocked (we cook alot) with a microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, blender and all basic amenities. We have extra bedding, games for the kids, and all you need for a comfortable getaway. You will NOT find a tv. Bring your laptops for that. We recommend you arrive with food in hand, as the nearest grocery is a 15-minute drive to the Tillamook Safeway.

We're happy to accommodate early check-in and late check-out when available.

Dogs are allowed with a non-refundable $65 deposit. We even have dishes for Fido. Please note: There is a 2 dog max and we request the pups mind their manners and wipe their paws.

Three years in a row, but never again
This was our third year renting this beach house for Christmas, but unfortunately, this stay was disappointing. Upon arrival, we found the house unclean, particularly the floors. Several dishes were put away dirty, requiring washing before use. The comforter in the main bedroom smelled strongly of urine and needed immediate cleaning.During our stay, a nearly 20-hour power outage occurred, and the house was poorly equipped with candles or lanterns, making it difficult to manage in the dark and cold.After our eight-day stay, we were charged for damages we did not cause, including a tear in the couch that had been covered by a tapestry for years, as well as spots beneath it. The couch is very old, so being held responsible for pre-existing issues was frustrating. Additionally, we received a photo from the property manager regarding supposed damage to the dishwasher that inexplicably featured a man standing without pants, which was disturbing. Communication from the property manager was otherwise limited and unhelpful, with no discussion beyond demanding payment. We will not be returning to this property.

Living room overlooks the fierce Pacific ocean and the kitchen opens up to an expansive view of Cape Meares Bay and the distant mountains. Breathtakingly beautiful. Bring some grocery.

Lovely!
House was clean and comfortable. The kitchen well stocked with various dishes and cookware. Having the lake behind the house was an absolute delight! We always come to Oregon to enjoy the ocean, but having the wildlife from the lake was an incredible treat! ’Listening to the birds come alive each morning became something we looked forward to. The little river otter was so fun to watch Swim around the docks. The location is so private yet close to grocery stores and anything you’d want to do in the 3 capes loop and tillamook area. We will return to this house!

Perfect little getaway spot
This was the perfect location for a relaxing weekend. My husband, 6 year old, and I had a lovely time playing on the beach, sitting on the dock watching birds, and playing board games in the house. We wil be coming back!

The location is so amazing — fronting the lake and one house in from beach access. It’s a quiet and private neighborhood with really great vacation vibes. It was really great to be in a home where the only thing we needed to bring was food. Definitely recommend The Last Resort and looking forward to renting again!

Property not ready when arrived
When we arrived, property wasn’t cleaned. Both bed rooms weren’t made, no towels, leftover food from previous visitor in a fridge with dirty spills, dust on floor. We had to vacuum, make beds, washed fridge, thrown out leftovers etc. Management was helpful. Start of our visit was ruined due to such unexpected state of property, rest of our stay was ok. Excellent location and enjoyed beautiful beaches.

Can't Beat This Location!
