Bait & switch for sure! Waste of money!

Publié le 11 juill. 2018 sur HomeAway
Mattias has a couple of houses that he has divided up into various separate units that are all attached. I required 1 bedroom with 2 beds. I booked a 1 bedroom with 2 beds. PAID for a 1 bedroom with 2 beds. Upon arrival I was presented 1 bedroom with 1 king size bed. I could hear other tenants talking from the other side of a kitchen door! The biggest problem is that he advertises EVERY SPACE WITH THE SAME PICTUTES!! And with similar names so it is impossible to determine which space you actually rented (want). BAIT & SWITCH. STEER CLEAR OF THIS. I walked away even after paying. Oh, and he requires payment to be in euros too. All credit cards charge additional fees for currency exchanges! I'm still pissed I got taken to the cleaners!!

Areas of Improvement

Publié le 6 févr. 2018 sur HomeAway
I am a seasoned traveler who is used to the unexpected circumstances that often occur when traveling. I have traveled to Mexico alone without any problems but this trip was an exception. I write the following not as a complaint, yet more as a "heads up" for others. First, if renting a car to travel to El Cuyo, be sure to account for the insurance fee that is not included in the price of your rental (I was initially quoted five hundred dollars for the week and eventually quoted three hundred fifty dollars). Next, when heading to El Cuyo make sure you give yourself enough daylight for the journey. There are minimal signs on the way and then once your reach town there are no signs. Upon my arrival to the Hacienda, on New Year's Eve, my room was not ready. There apparently was some miscommunication re: my arrival date and I did not have clean linens/towels until the following day. Once settled, the place was fine yet a bit on the dark side. The property manager was friendly and helpful and the location was close to the beach and town center. A final recommendation is if you have a morning flight, you may want to consider spending the night in Cancun. Had I known this, I could have avoided having to pay for my final night at the Hacienda and a hotel room in Cancun. Lastly, be careful when driving to the airport as I was pulled over for speeding (which I was not) and threatened by two police officers. They essentially said, "Pay us now or we are bringing you to the station." As a teacher of Mexican students in the United States this final incident didn't leave me with the best parting memory.

Hola, we are sorry that you were ripped off by the carrental agency and the police at the airport. However we told you about those things (i used to work for a carrental agency at cancun airport) and i offered to rent one of our cars to you, which you refused. That unfortunate situation is why we started to rent our cars to our guests in Cancun so you would not be victim of scams at the airport and the police. As far as your arrival, you did not inform us of your time of arrival at any time, nor did you answer our emails prior to your arrival, so in order to avoid what happend to you,we ask our guests to inform us about their schedules and answer always our emails. Nevertheless you seemed to have had a wonderful vacation in our Antigua Lodge,..since you had no complaints there i take it as a positive...

Wundervoller Aufenthalt, wundervoller Ort

Paradise

Publié le 17 févr. 2017 sur HomeAway
The penthouse is incredible. It's beautiful and is fully equipped. Sitting on the balcony watching the ocean under palm trees, it was a little bit of paradise. El Cuyo is a great little Mexican town. Keep in mind most restaurants don't open till after 4pm, and groceries are purchased at the corner stores. I recommend picking up groceries in a major city before heading to El Cuyo, unless you want a rustic experience. Also the WIFI is unpredictable in town so make your arrangements for checking in and out well in advance because you may not have the ability on short notice ... Mattias is great to work with... we enjoyed our Mexican adventure very much !!
