Just what the family needed
Publié le 17 août 2024 sur HomeAwayWe had a great stay and Kevin made it very easy for us on our first family trip to Japan. Easy access to trains, stores and restaurants with great recommendations. The house was perfect for transitioning to Tokyo time and well stocked with everything needed. Highly recommend

Great stay on quiet street
Publié le 16 août 2024 sur HomeAwayThis was an amazing place to stay. It is in a quiet residential neighborhood where rental properties are very hard to find. It’s a quick walk to the train station, and you pass buy a range of mom-and-pop restaurants: Japanese, Halal, Italian. The house is spacious and well laid out with the bedrooms separated from the common rooms, keeping the noise down. We would for sure stay here again!

Quiet location, things to consider
Publié le 18 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayOverall we enjoyed our stay. Kevin is a great host and really cares about his guests.
The house, as indicated, is a bit outside the attractions. About 30 minutes to Shibuya via train, and about an hour from Shinjo.
The house is a bit older and there is some maintenance needed. The bathroom/shower and toilet are separate rooms. Unfortunately the toilet room was a bit smelly.
The stairs to get to the lower bedroom are very narrow and steep. I fell once while wearing socks, and it seems like older people and small children would need to be very careful.
You should also know that navigating the train stations in Tokyo can be confusing and difficult for foreigners, so take that into account when considering this location.
Overall we were happy and the host was great.

Very clean and spacious place in a nice quiet neighborhood
Publié le 20 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayWe really enjoyed our stay here. The place is very clean and has a lot of room. The neighborhood is so quiet, yet it is only a short walk to convenience stores, a grocery store, many restaurants, and the train station. The host is great, they provided plenty of helpful information for first-time visitors to Japan. I would highly recommend staying here if you want a place in a quiet neighborhood that is an easy train ride into the heart of Tokyo.

A pleasant home in a quiet neighborhood
Publié le 13 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayKevin was very communicative and also very helpful in providing suggestions on places to visit or eat. His video that he sent to us just before we arrived showed us exactly how to arrive at the home. It is in a very convenient location with supermarkets, convenience stores and the train station within minutes of the home. Ikebukuro was just a few minutes away by train and from there we used other trains or the subway to get to other parts of Tokyo easily.
We highly suggest you stay there if you want to be away from the busyness noisy city.

An oasis way from the crowds
Publié le 1 mai 2024 sur HomeAwayA great place away from the crowds yet a short train ride to all the spots. The way it's laid out w/separate rooms and floors dampens noise and made it possible for my husband to conduct zoom meetings in the middle of the night without disturbing the family at all. Loved the quiet residential neighborhood and enjoyed readymade meals from the local market and picking up snacks and waters at 7-11 or Family Mart which are all within easy walking distance. We also opted to use the laudromat since the weather was drizzly plus we had coins we needed to unload. A slight downside about this property is the toilet room with little to no counter space and the shower room is wet and kind of moldy but Japanese bathrooms are just different in this way. For us it was fine because of all the benefits. We adapted by using the kitchen sink and counters as another area for toothbrushing but we did not do any cooking. The tatami room was wonderful and makes the main living room feel more spacious even if only one person is sitting on the floor to round out the conversation area of sofa and dining table. Definitely respect the space by the no food or drink rule. I used it to meditate and stretch and it's great for a nap. This was our first-time using VRBO and we LOVED it!

Fun Home Base
Publié le 29 avr. 2024 sur HomeAwayIt was a lot larger than we thought and was a great place for us to come back to after wandering the rest of Japan.
Mind the stairs leading to the basement/first floor area since they can hurt if you slip.
It was very authentic and nice!

Wonderful house, fantastic area
Publié le 14 janv. 2024 sur HomeAwayReally enjoyed our stay. Tons of room for 4 people. House was very clean with lots of amenities supplied. Host's communication was excellent. Only drawback was the sink in the bathroom has no hot water so if you need to shave you have to boil a kettle and fill the sink.
The neighbourhood is absolutely wonderful. Lots of great bars, izakayas and restaurants. 24 hour konbinis all around. Very short walk to the station which takes you to Ikebukuro in a matter of minutes.
The house provided us with a very quiet and relaxing sanctuary after enjoying all the excitement that Tokyo has to offer.
