Cozy cottage!
Publié le 25 juill. 2023 sur HomeAwayProperty upkeep is impeccable. Close to Bar Harbor and Acadia without being busy. Location is good but you are in the flight line of the nearby airport. A noise machine is included to help with the outside noise. Small kitchen area with the essentials except we only had 1 fork and 1 spoon and 3 knifes. Lots of places within a mile to eat. Price was very good. Pet friendly!

Great idea in a terrible location
Publié le 20 juill. 2023 sur HomeAwayWe loved everything about the idea of this place: so much sharing, so much care, great kitchen and BBQ, with everything you need for cooking (including many ingredients). But it's at the intersection of two highways at at the end of an airport runway. It's hard to enjoy eating at the amazing BBQ patio with the non-stop roar of traffic and airplanes. Even with the windows closed, the traffic starts up at 4am and you're up for the day!

Open Hearth inn is all the wonderful things described above but sadly we did have a bit of construction going on to upgrade the highway during this guests stay. This summer has been abnormally busy and the construction (is nearly over) does cause some early birds trying to get into the park to stack up and beep at one another to get moving while the workers are trying to get the project done.
We are also near BHB so the sightseeing prop planes do zip over a few times a day (lasting no more than a few seconds). It’s all part of the ambiance here at Acadia. We disclose both of these things in our listings here at our charming 205 year old property.
Open hearth is located just off of MDI and aboht 1/4 mile from the park visitor information center so the location isn’t terrible. It’s prime. It’s really too bad we didn’t hear anything from our guest during their stay because we do provide white noise machines for people sensitive to noise.
Our location is no more noisy than the other 95% of the inns and motels located on the same exact road and Bar Harbor is much more packed constantly in the summer.
If you are looking for a perfect location to launch into the park, this in fact is the best place to stay.
