Although we booked, we didn’t stay in the end

Posted May 29, 2018 on Hotels
We did book to stay but something went wrong with the booking. The guy at reception was unbelievably helpful and bent over backwards to find out what had gone wrong. We received our confirmation but in a link at the bottom if the page it said our booking had been cancelled - which wasn’t very obvious. Turned out our card had been rejected - I must have entered the numbers in wrong. These things happen!

Right in the center of town

Pros: The central location the rooms and the staff
Cons: nothing
Location: lots of restaurants the cruise port is within walking distance so is the train station and shops.
This hotel was a little hard to find. when you get to the door you have to ring the button for the staff to open the door. the hotel is actually on the third floor. But once you get in it's a whole new place. the staff was great. Amanda was very helpful and courteous. The breakfast was great. The hotel is with walking distance from the cruise port and the train station. There are numerous stores attractions and restaurants all within walking distance. This is another must stay hotel. I will definitely stay here again

Quick Trip to Trieste

Posted Sep. 29, 2014 on Expedia
Pros: Centrally located.
Location: All the main tourist sites are easily walkable. The tram near by. Restaurants are close and the sea front fish restaurants are excellent value.
Spent 2 nights in Trieste. Was impressed with the hotel, better than expected. Centrally located near sights, railway station and tram. Breakfast good.

Most terrible hotel i have ever stayed.

They make guests fool but there is no free wifi as almost everything they have blocked for eg. whatsapp, viber, youtube and so on... Breakfast is even more horrible. Tin food, no toast, no boiled egg. just the ham slices mixed on the same plate with cheese slices. Bread my god really scary. so hard like solid rock. Better you take a hammer with you.. The shower doors broken and thus doesn't get close proper and water flows on floor. wasting of money and stress with the casual attitude and unprofessional behaviour of hotel staff. i think they paid money to get 4 star category but i have stayed in some of the 2 stars eith much much better facilities. would not recommend it to anyone.

nice, inexpensive little place

Alabarda hotel is more a hostel than a hotel. The bathrooms are shared (at least, on our floor, all the rooms had to share two bathrooms). The rooms are simple and basic, but with everything you need, and most importantly, clean. The staff is friendly, breakfast is included, and the location is probably one of its best qualities, about 10/15 minutes walking to the train station, close to a main bus station, and about 10 minutes walking to the grand canal and restaurants and bars. I would definitely stay here again, especially for the price.

Budget place to stay

Posted Sep. 5, 2013 on Hotels
The exterior of this hotel doesn't bode well - it was pretty scary in fact. A grubby doorway into a dark corridor and up an ancient lift, hearing people in neighbouring apartments arguing. Once inside it was OK, though very basic, almost like a youth hostel. That said everything was clean, beds were OK. The best thing is the location, five minutes away from the Grand Canal and the elegant centre of Trieste, and near the station too. If you are looking for a basic cheap place to visit Trieste this will do, but dont stay in this hotel if you are after a romantic break

Loved the hotel

Posted Oct. 4, 2012 on Hotels
Had a great room. Guy on reception very helpful and friendly. Note to other travelers don't be put off when you open the front door. I was a single woman traveling alone and felt very safe. Its basic accommodation but everything was very good. Great breakfast lots of food and variety. Wonderful location close to everything.
