Pleasantly Surprised

We stayed one night in this hotel during our holiday in Sri Lanka. We were pleasantly surprised after reading a number of negative reviews with how nice the hotel was. The rooms were some of the nicest rooms we had stayed in during our trip and the hotel staff were lovely. They were also willing to stay up to 1 am to wait for our late check in. The hotel is situated close to the big resorts and around a 5 minute walk to the beach. For the price this hotel was great value for money.

Not our best experience.

We took a chance by booking this rather new hotel with zero reviews. When we write new, we dont mean the building, but seing that it just recently arrived on bookingsites. We booked a deluxe room which was supposed to have a balcony, daily cleaning and a view of a garden. Well, nothing was like that. We didnt even get two towels or more than a fifth of a toiletpaper-roll. We didnt even get a blanket/sheet to cover us during the night. There were no cleaning even after we asked for it. This also has to do with the languageproblems, we guess. We didnt even get all the furnitures stated at the bookingsite. At one time one of us got locked in at the bathroom because of the badly installed lock. And the window in the bathroom cant be properly locked either, so bugs will come towards the light in there and enter the room, so we had to use the bathroom in the dark. This might be better than some guesthouses, but it did not feel like a hotel at all. Two stars because of the lady in the reception for being very serviceminded and nice. And the wifi doesnt work either. The list of "lies" could have been longer, but you probably get it by now.
