First of all, the hosts Christina and Mekaile were amazing. Super friendly people. They were very helpful in showing us around, and were always available. You can't drive your car into the town so they came out to meet us, showed us where to park, and transported our luggage to the room.
The building is nicely located - a 2 minute walk to the stairs down to the beach - probably a 10 minute walk to the water in total. The beach is crowded, but very nice. Some parts have small pebbles, some parts have sand. It is not your typical rocky European beach.
The building itself is very old - as are all buildings in Tropea. They've completely redone the inside though and it was great. You'd never know it was 200-300 years old. It had a full kitchen, dishwasher, and washing machine. The beds were very comfortable and the A/C worked well.
