Hotel was nice and clean with friendly staff. Bummed that the hot tub was shut down but the sauna was nice! Fun to have a mini golf course on site as well that was free to guests. Overall nice place to stay.

I was there with my little grandsons for Thomas The Train event, like everyone else at the hotel was. After checking into our room, a young staff gal saw me going to fill my ice bucket with ice and told me that the ice machine was down and told me there was no other machine in the bldg. The next morning I asked again at front desk and was told it wasn’t fixed. So, I tried it anyway and it worked just fine! Also that morning during the packed breakfast rush I watched a staff member put a sign on the pancake machine that said out of order. I never saw anyone work on it. After the early breakfast rush was over (with all the little kiddos, who would’ve loved pancakes!) I saw a staff woman take the sign down and make herself pancakes and took them into the office to eat. So, you pay $260. a night for an average hotel and they don’t want you using ice or the pancake machine. Just terrible! I will never go back!!!!

Hi Karen, This is Russ from the Country Inn of Two Harbors. I believe we met briefly on Thursday right after you were advised of the lack of ice when I met you outside of your room with a bag of ice. I am sorry that there was some miscommunication during your stay and that the miscommunication resulted in such a negative experience for you.Our ice machine went down to a minor maintenance issue that was resolved within a few hours. However, the ice machine had to be completely emptied in order to fix the maintenance issue and it required time to build up ice before people could fill their coolers, and so an out of order sign was put up as we waited the appropriate amount of time for it to refill.I understand that you felt like you were misled by our staff and by the out of order sign that advised you that the ice machine was not ready. I want you to know that I am very sorry that you felt this way, but even though the ice machine produced ice for you it was still down for maintenance at the time that you asked. I'm not exactly sure what happened during breakfast, but I don't have any notes or other complaints regarding the pancake maker. I will watch the camera footage and follow up with my breakfast staff to see what happened. I have gone ahead and removed the "Out of Order" sign from the back of the pancake instructions so that if the sign was put on backwards that it wouldn't mislead customers again. If you would like to speak more in-depth about the issues you had, I would love to hear what you have to say. Please feel encouraged to call the hotel and ask to speak to Russ so we can discuss these issues further. Thank you so much, and I hope to hear from you soon!
