Smell of fuel in the room...

Hotel that welcomes huge groups of tourists in buses, so the restaurant is more of a canteen with buffet that can sit a thousand persons and gets super hot and noisy. My room was on the last floor and I had a distinct smell of gas/fuel coming in as soon as I opened the windows, probably coming from the chimney of the building. Really disgusting and worrying, especially for the baby in our room. Plus it's a bit the opposite of what I expect from a trip in the countryside of beautiful Norway. Room comfort is really average, the bathtub was not even sealed with the walls around it, so water was flooding everywhere.

Dear guest, Thank you for sharing your experience. We are really sorry to know that you did not have a great experience and the hotel did not meet your expectations during your stay. Because of high tourist season, we do receive many tourists in groups and we need to accommodate them. The groups prefer to have dinner buffet. We try our best to facilitate them as well as individual guests by putting different time intervals and arranging different sittings in the restaurant. You might probably have been at the restaurant for dinner at same time when the big groups were there. Regarding room allocation as your description, you might be allocated at 1st floor or somewhere at 2nd floor that has view towards Ulvik sentrum. Principally, we do allocate rooms according to room categories which also have different price range. Another reason could be the last-minute booking. You have not mentioned what kind of rooms you booked and when you booked them. Regarding chimney, all the chimneys are located at the top of the building. May be the smell of gas/fuel came from some of the busses that come near to main entrance for a short while when groups check-in/check-out with a lot of luggage. However, you could have a much better and comfortable stay at our hotel. We could also contribute better. We take the feedback seriously and try our best to satisfy to our valuable guests. We will also check to seal the walls around bathtub if still some rooms are left. Please let us know in advance if you visit Ulvik next time so that we can welcome in a special way. We arrived at breakfast at 9.30 - after recommending from the receptionist (earlier would be a hassle due to many people). But all basic food were missing (bread, eggs, cheese, croissants, fruit, etc) it was very difficult to get anything and the waiters were busy cleaning up.
