Amazing communication
Publié le 22 oct. 2024 sur HomeAwayPower was out from the storm and she reached out days early to make us aware. Communication daily as to power and day of we ended up having to stay elsewhere which was out of her control. Her forthcoming nature allowed us to be prepared for a change. We will hopefully stay there if we visit Indiana again

John, I express my sincere gratitude for your open communication leading up to the scheduled booking. My goal has always been to provide the best possible experience while staying at the cabin for my guests. It was an unfortunate set of weather related circumstances out of anyone's control and we worked as a great team making the most of it allowing you to find alternative accommodations. Wonderful get away spot.

I'm delighted to hear you enjoyed the well stocked kitchen and the various comfortable, well appointed hangout spots. The outdoor areas are definitely a highlight - the BBQ bar shed, porches, firepit, balcony, and hammock chairs are all designed for relaxation and taking in nature's scenery. The pond is a special treat, especially in October with the vibrant fall colors and the abundance of birds and wildlife, flocking to drink.
The cabin offers a unique and beautiful experience year-round, with each season showcasing nature's wonders in a different way, awaiting the next guest!

Truly Paradise

The entire cabin and grounds had so many elements of excellent craftsmanship, hospitality, and many details. My husband and I came to celebrate our 30th Anniversary; it was the perfect place. We plan to return! Melanie was an excellent hostess.

The cabin was custom built by true craftsmen early 2000 and remains a classic design standing the test of time. I strive to accomplish "Hoosier Hospitality" at the best by incorporating personal welcoming touches, creating a comfortable and cared for atmosphere. Fantastic Place

It is well supplied with everything you need, beautifully and thoughtfully landscaped, and the swings on the porches and grilling area were perfectly placed for relaxing and enjoying the space. Secluded, quiet, and peaceful. The love and TLC the host has put in to this is obvious. It’s in every little detail. We certainly hope to be back again soon.

Anniversary Getaway
Publié le 26 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayWe felt like we were in a fairy tale at Melanie’s whimsical home! It was perfection for my indoorsy husband and outdoorsy me. Such wonderful moments I spent just soaking in nature. We saw a family of raccoons shortly upon arriving, gorgeous deer each time we ventured out the lane, and the flowers were so fragrant and beautiful. We went to Bloomington and ate at Nick’s, which my husband, a IU Hoosiers fan, enjoyed. We went into Nashville and visited the quaint shops, and another night we went to Janko’s for a steak dinner and wine in a casual dining setting, and it was delicious. Then we returned to the cabin and to the twinkle lights and sounds of nature. The coffee and tea bar were second to none, and Melanie tucked in surprised of fresh flowers throughout the cabin, as well as displays of beautiful art. We also visited the gravesites of some of my husband’s relatives, and if you are a cemetery enthusiast, this part of the state has gorgeous ones. We are already discussing when we can return. Melanie thinks of everything and makes all visitors feel special and welcome.

Thank you Janice for taking the time to write a heartwarming, 5-star review of how you experienced my “Whimsical Home”, Cabin Porch Paradise. I’m taken back hearing you felt like you were in a fairytale, perfection for both your “indoorsy” husband and “outdoorsy” you. This is exactly what my intentions are for guests!
The flowers in bloom now (Hibiscus & surprise lilies) are butterfly, bee, & bird magnets not to mention intoxicatingly fragrant! The forest habitat provides the perfect home for wildlife, deer, racoons, possums, foxes, turtles, owls and more. My focus has always been to foster an environment that is conducive to attracting wildlife- a little untamed and natural with native plantings and a natural pond surrounded by twinkle lights late into the evening with the sounds of nature.
As a host, there is something special and welcoming about sharing flowers, art, and treasures for guest enjoyment, that brings me the utmost pleasure. I will welcome you for a return visit joyously.

Luxury and Nature
Publié le 25 mai 2024 sur HomeAwayThe property is private and serene, with bountiful wildlife. The cabin is exceptional, down to the condiments in the fridge to a swing bed on the screened in porch. Unusual things about the cabin was the communications with the owner, super helpful and detailed, a very complete coffee and tea bar, and the every area was very well stocked with every thing you need for a comfortable stay. Plan to go again in another season to take in the view from the ridge.

Dear Max & Connie, it was such a pleasure hosting and meeting you during your stay. I’m ecstatic to hear the cabin was exceptional! From communication to the porch swing bed, and you enjoyed a well stocked kitchen. I loved knowing you utilized the coffee & tea bar armoire, as most do not drink tea! Seeing that you used the Teazee and hot water was truly a delight. I have several loose leaf teas WAITING to be enjoyed by guests. Slice of Serenity

We stayed for a long weekend and this was an absolute gem, even better than we expected based on the listing. A pristine house with lovingly maintained landscaping and interiors on top of a hill, with lake views (early spring) and cozy outdoor lighting at night. A million little porches and spots to get and drink coffee or wine together and forget the world.
The place was immaculately clean and had everything we would’ve wanted stocked.
Melanie, the host, was kind and communicative when I reached out but otherwise totally respected our privacy.
The only reservation I had on booking was whether the other nearby structure visible in the photos was an inhabited house, but it’s just a barn/ storage building.
If I ever have reason to come this way again, this would be the first place I’d book. Already a little nostalgic for it.

It's nice to hear you "forgot the world" while enjoying the porches & seating areas with coffee & wine, views of early springtime & the lake afar.
Respecting guest privacy is a priority while being kindly responsive to my guests needs. The barn-garage on the property shares the large parking area for access to an apartment (not facing the cabin) which is part-time inhabited and used for storage as suspected. I'm committed to maintianing a peaceful & private nature retreat for my guests.
I'd be delighted to host your return visit, although this getaway was a "once in a lifetime" experience in Indiana.
