Needs an updated Lockbox ASAP

I booked this property for Labor Day Weekend and was super excited to enjoy the property and the location near Starved Rock. The checkin information gave us the lockbox code to use to retrieve the key to unlock the door. Unfortunately, when we arr

Great place

The unit was comfy & cozy. We felt at home. It was also clean & the kitchen is fully stocked with just about anything you need for cooking. Beds were comfortable. At night there wasn't a sound to be heard. Very peaceful. We will definitely come back in the future.

Very disappointed

Unfortunately this stay was not what we expected. To start off, our first issue was the cleanliness of the unit. Our weekend getaway was planned to celebrate our little ones 7th birthday. Because of some health issues recently , we decided to do something small and just get out of the city for a bit. I chose this unit because it had a jacuzzi in the main room. The plan was to make it his room and let him have the tub and just have some silly fun. When we turned on the water, it kept coming out dark grey. Soon after we realized that the Jets themselves had mold. We attempted to clean them ourselves , but they were just too dirty. I contacted the property manager about the issue , who first told me that the tub and Jets are cleaned after every visit. I then sent him photos and told him the mold would state otherwise. He THEN replied that he just saw his wife clean the Jets last months. So which is it? Are they cleaned after every stay, or by his wife once a month? Either way , mold takes a little bit of time to grew , and the tub/Jets haven’t been cleaned for a long time. Our kids also found a random dirty sock in one of the toy baskets. Lastly , the sofa bed has a sign that says do not open. Which means two of our guest had to sleep on the bedroom floor. Which is absolutely not okay , because the listing says the sofa bed counts as a sleeping area. It’s not okay that the tub and one of the beds were not of use, and the property manager wasn’t concerned with my issues.

We're sorry to hear that you did not have the five-star experience we endeavor to provide our guests. - We truly value the cleanliness and condition of the home. Just to clarify, the whirlpool is serviced and cleaned after use each time. In our interaction with you, we stated that it is cleaned regularly and that we personally witnessed the tub being cleaned. We're sorry if the whirlpool wasn't up to standards as it may have been because it was vacant for some time. - It is important to us that all furniture is in working order for guest's comfort. We apologize for the inconvenience in the sleeping arrangements as the pullout sofa was previously damaged and a new sofa is to be installed. As an alternative, there are portable mattresses in the closet as indicated in the listing. Thank you for sharing your review. We do all we can to make the best possible stay and look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.

A Home Away From Home

Grand Bear Resort was a perfect place for my family and I! We had privacy and plenty of room for everyone in my family to eat home-cooked meals, play games, and sleep comfortably. The children had a great time riding their scooters outside and playing put-put at the miniature golf course. It was quiet and beautiful, and Bernie was very helpful and kind. I would love to come and stay again! Thank you!

We had an awesome weekend , hiking and relaxing at the cabin. The cabin was exactly what we had wanted! An absolute treat to be so close to the hiking trails and being able to go back to the cabin to relax.
