It is lovely

Posted Sep. 22, 2023 on HomeAway
This is a 300-year-old farmhouse that has been converted on a very quiet spot in a middle class, safe and retirement looking (?) neighborhood. There was a bedroom and bath upstairs and a bedroom and bath plus another half bath downstairs with a kitchen that was compact but had everything you needed and a lovely outdoor space. If you're looking for modern perfection instead of character, you'll find only the best character here. There is a grocery store nearby and you can walk the train in about 5 minutes. Our host did a wonderful job checking us in, and gave us all the information we needed. She was available but not intrusive. It was just the right amount of space, very quiet at night, and we would absolutely come back here again and again.

Quiet, well equipped and clean country dwelling

Posted May 30, 2023 on HomeAway
We enjoyed our 4-night stay in this property in Valongo. Just a short drive from Porto, quiet, clean and well equipped. Its an old house but lacked for nothing. Owners were very responsive and easy to communicate with. Check in and check out was a breeze. Beds were super comfy and enough bath linens etc. Loved sitting on the slate stone patio listening to nature in the evening. I don't have any hesitation recommending to others or staying in this place again if I ever have the opportunity to revisit.

Shortened our 10 day stay by nine days

Posted Apr. 5, 2023 on HomeAway
Nothing went right. We weren’t given an address so we could find it. Our host didn’t meet us. She sent her brother who just wanted to leave. Then we found out after we got in that the only heat was the fireplace and they didn’t bring us any firewood or matches or kindling. They did have a electric space heater upstairs that didn’t provide very much heat. we felt that the stairs were very unsafe as the handrail did not go up high enough to have something to hold onto at the top. The house was in a very industrial, and seemed to be a poor area, and we were expecting it to be in a little village in the country. I’m sure the host disagrees with this, but we were so uncomfortable. We actually rented another place south of Puerto because we didn’t want to stay there more than one night. We found the washing machine in a separate building in a shed and didn’t look clean enough to even wash clothes in. We have no reason to pick on the host that didn’t feel like we got value for our money, and we would rather pay for another one then stay there . It was a very interesting and historic building and artifacts, but that doesn’t mean I would want to stay there.!

Lovely farmhouse

Posted Nov. 12, 2022 on HomeAway
This was a lovely little farmhouse tucked away behind a gate in an area of the town. The house itself was quaint and the property had a few inviting outdoor areas to relax after a busy day navigating the streets of Porto. The owners were very attentive if we needed anything. We would definitely enjoy staying there again if we return to Portugal in the future.

Wonderful Stay!

Posted Sep. 29, 2022 on HomeAway
Our stayexceeded all of our expectations. Flavia was wonderful to work with and the house was absolutely beautiful. There was a train station about 15 minutes walk from the house which made it very easy to get to Porto. We had a wonderful time and look forward to returning someday!

Beautiful property near Porto

Flavia was an excellent host. She responded quickly to our inquiries. The property is lovely with a nice rustic feel. The house is not large, everything is very compact and cozy, the pictures make it look larger than it actually is. But having said that, the house has everything you need for a lovely stay.

The guesthouse is super cute, with a lovely garden for hanging around outside. The hosts were very helpful and I truly enjoyed my stay at the house.

rural oasis in one of Porto's suburbs

Interesting old converted barn. Cozy place, perfect for 2 or 3. Woke up to roosters and birds singing. Only 5 min. walk to the train station which goes directly to downtown Porto, so convenient! The stairs to the good size double bed bedroom are quite steep, upstairs bath and downstairs 1/2 bath are not suited for large built guests. The washer dryer are in a laundry room next door to the host home. Flavia is very easy to communicate with, did not meet her, her mother welcomed us. Probably more suited for warmer weather to spend more time outside. We would recommend this place.
