Has everything you need, ugly neighborhood

Posted May 8, 2017 on Expedia
Pros: The service is first rate. Hotel staff are always available and very, very friendly. Parking is secure and right on premises.
Cons: Paint, showers, heating, sofas, deteriorated trim, fungus in bathrooms. The cost of all the super TVs should have been put towards renovating.
Location: Quite bad location: dirty, dingy, old, and run down. Only a big mall 5 minutes away. Nothing to speak of on the coast.
This apartment is well equipped but ageing. It has modern TVs in every room, and comfortable beds, but everything else is quite worn. The rooms had good blackout curtains. It was clean. The neighborhood is certainly not the best; while it´s right beside a big shopping center, malls are not the central reason for which people visit Valparaiso. The barrio is very dirty and quite poor, and to get to decent restaurants or nice neighborhoods, you have to go up the other hills.

Close to boardwalk overlooking bay

Posted Apr. 30, 2014 on Hotels
Within a block of a boardwalk with a spectacular view of the bay (especially at night). Also, there is a Jumbo (Walmart style) supermarket within a few blocks. Super convenient for catching buses or collectivos. We stayed in the large home at the bottom of the very steep steps. Although the home itself was old, it was remodeled nicely, with modern appliances, and lovely modern bathrooms. It is heated with propane heaters, which we weren't used to, and we didn't need or use them. We also had an enclosed carport in this particular rental and a washer. The owner was very helpful with whatever we needed. Loved being in this great location - in an older home, with modern conveniences. Best of both worlds. We would definitely stay here again.

Roomy house in slightly scary location

Posted Feb. 12, 2015 on Hotels
Large, two-story house with plenty of room and good beds. The house is part of a small, family operated hotel business - apparently, they have two more houses in the vicinity. Located behind the local Jumbo supermarket on the outskirts of town, it was a bit scary returning after dark with groups of aggressive teenagers roaming the streets. Features a full kitchen; however, utensils and cooking stuff are in need of a good cleaning. Some were to disgusting to be used.
