Hotel will take advantage of you in a disaster!
Posted Nov. 26, 2017 on HotelsDo not book this hotel! We intended to stay at this hotel Sept 4-6, and Hurricane Irma made landfall on the 4th/5th. We had to cancel our plans to avoid getting trapped in a category 5 hurricane on an island that was in its direct path. This hotel declined multiple times to issue a refund, before and after the storm. We would've been trapped with no electricity or clean, running water, and no prediction of if the hotel structure would've withstood the storm or if we would've been killed in the hurricane, like many others sadly did during this disaster. We were still charged for this reservation. I would not trust this hotel to have any kind of compassion for other stranded travelers trapped in the VI during a natural disaster. (Hotels.com was also quite compassionless in their handling of this experience.) I would however recommend Bunker Hill Hotel. We were trying to fly out of St Thomas before the hurricane and all flights were cancelled. The family that owns the hotel took us in during the storm and helped us survive afterwards sharing food, water, and all resources. Stay there instead.

Jan. 12, 2018 by Not Responisble for your refund, Hotel Management
Good Day,
If you didn't stay with us we are not responsible for refunding you as we do not have access to you credit card information.
Hotels .com would be responsible for refunding your monies as that is the agency you gave your credit card details too.
how would we be able to decline multiple times to issues a refund if there was no means of communication for months.?
We received damages to our property but nobody was killed on the Island of Virgin Gorda during the passage of hurricanes Irma and Maria.
We are sorry that hotels.com did not issue you a refund but we had nothing to do with it. Fischer's Cove Beach Hotel only processes the virtual card send to us by Expedia after our guest check -out

dont go during rainy season
Posted Aug. 26, 2017 on HotelsIt was the rainy season and mosquitoes were very abundant. I received many nips the first night. When I told the housekeeper the next morning, she told me she would spray the room. Why not spray before I arrived!. Then she told me that she had Zika infection two years earlier.
The beds were nice though. But why no have mosquito nets around the bed? I would have been able to sleep a lot better.

Wonderful home away from home.
Posted Dec. 23, 2016 on ExpediaFischer's Cove is a wonderful hotel on a beautiful beach with incomparable views from its breakfast/dinner veranda. Andy Flax and his family - who run the resort - are so friendly and gracious that they are like famiy to us.

Terrible hotel
Posted Aug. 21, 2016 on Expedia
Pros: Nothing
Cons: everything mentioned above
Location: Limited transportation. Not much to do or available near the Hotel.
This hotel is a complete ripoff...
Scattered dry patches of grass and dirt that they call "garden view"...with chickens wondering around.
Very run down, outdated rooms (buildings and furniture).
Dirty rooms with cockroaches and spiders.
No water pressure to flush or shower properly.
Loud weak A/C.
No ice available when i requested it.
Restaurant only open sometimes and with only 2 main course options. Terrible offerings and extremely overpriced. One small bowl of instant oat meal US$11???...ridiculous!
When i complained to front desk, no apologies were offered, instead just a defensive explanation (with attitude) that their hotel is not a normal hotel...that they offer a "Homie" experience.
It must be a poor's man Home experience at the price of a high end hotel, that would explain the cockroaches and chickens.
Expedia should not allow hotels that are this bad to show on their list of offered Hotels.

Decent hotel close to the beach and dining
Posted Jun. 2, 2016 on HotelsNice people in a decent three star resort close to the beach. The rooms were a little run down, but the resort staff were very friendly and helpful. The resort is a short walk to the central area of Spanish Town which has restaurants and bars close by.

Virgin Gorda
Posted Apr. 10, 2016 on HotelsThis was an eclectic hotel on a beautiful bay in Spanish Town Virgin Gorda. It was close to the ferry and had a lot of street noise from traffic and trucks getting on and off the ferry.
The restaurant had good food and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Without a car getting around was difficult. We paid $20 for a round trip visit to the Baths. Taxi from the ferry to hotel was $15. The Mermaid Restsurant next door was fabulous with a beautiful sunset.

You get what you pay for, I guess.

Pros: The location is convenient. Price is cheaper than many other options.
Cons: Tap water not safe to drink. Ineffective screens didn't keep out the mosquitoes. Loud neighborhood. The resort was deserted. It was weird.
Location: The Baths and Spanish Town were an easy walk as we had no rental car the first day. Down the beach is Coco Maya, which is a fantastic restaurant.
Fischer's Cove is located on a pretty beach within walking distance of the Baths. We stayed there for three days.

Wonderful staff, amazing setting.
Posted Jan. 2, 2016 on Expedia
Pros: The setting, the privacy, the staff, the food.
Cons: Some updating needing to the rooms, bathrooms, chairs.
Location: Right near the Baths. Also recommend hiking to Virgin Gorda peak, lunch at Hog Heaven and afternoon in Savannah Bay.
The staff was so friendly and willing to go out of their way to help you. Couldn't ask for a better setting, right on the beach and no crowds at all. The rooms are quite moderate and could use some updating, but main complaint was the open air bar next door played music into the am hours on the weekends - not great for light sleepers, but otherwise, you cannot beat the location.
