TWO VERY UNHAPPY TRAVELERS
Publié le 16 nov. 2019 sur HotelsOn the website this 'hotel' looked lovely, but when we arrived we discovered that it was in fact a 'hostel' type hotel with the TV in a shared lounge/dining room with only two comfortable chairs. We got to our room through a shared not very clean 'kitchen' with all the other rooms coming off the shared 'kitchen'. It would have been a nightmare if anyone else was staying at the same time, but luckily we were the only ones staying the night (we wonder why?) so we didn't keep bumping into people we didn't know.
However, the very worst thing was the beds. We had single beds which were so small and hard they were extremely uncomfortable to sleep on, in fact we didn't sleep at all. When we explained this to the lady who organised the breakfast, she said 'all french beds are the same'. We totally disagree with this statement as we have stayed in some very lovely hotels in France for the price we paid (71e including breakfast and taxes) which have had very comfortable beds, both single and double!
The breakfast consisted of cereal which looked as if it had been on the counter for some time, 2 stale croissant and a french stick (which luckily was fresh) with jam and butter.
What a shame, this could have been a lovely working farm to stay in, but it definitely was not the place we were expecting and we would never recommend it to any one.

Thank you for this comment even if it is very critical.
You came on a Monday night, in low season, and we were full the previous nights. I will make sure that the common kitchen is better cleaned.
We are owners of guest rooms and not a hotel, whose principle is based on the possibility of meeting and sharing.
The room includes 2 twin beds of 80x200 equipped with duvets with a private bathroom. The choice of mattress is complicated according to the hosts. They are changed regularly and we follow the advice of Gîte de France.
There is no TV in the rooms but if guests wish, they can watch TV in the common living room which have 2 comfortable armchairs. It is not very often used except when there are children or to watch information. I have never had any particular request for more chairs.
The breakfast served is rather copious, orange juice (pure juice), grapefruit, cheese, dried fruit, milk, tea, coffee, chocolate, butter, jams, ogurt, cereals. It's a close-to-home bakery that provides croissants, chocolate roll and baguette.
All for 70 € / 2 pers. The price is very correct for this very quiet place, housed in an old barn of the 17th century.
I sincerely regret that you had a bad night. You should have questioned me right away because we also have a larger family room (1 bed 160x200, 1 bed 90x190) that could have been more suitable for you, with a small supplement.
