Overnight stay at Warner Springs Ranch
Publié le 13 avr. 2019 sur HomeAwayThe ranch is a little hard to find on Google Maps as we were driving over in the dark after viewing wildflowers in Anza Borrego- it's actually opposite the Warner Springs Ranch gas station. We were saved by an alert and super helpful security guard who spotted us! The cottage is small and cozy, with two heaters in case it gets cold. Basic amenities were provided. It was a good place for us to get a rest and sleep before heading back up to the Bay Area the next day.

A Little Odd
Publié le 7 avr. 2019 sur HotelsKind of strange. Promised a fold-out bed which turned out to be a futon chair with a hard section for head and shoulders, and they didn't leave bedding. Didn't give us a gate fob to get back in at night--we were lucky that another guest came along who did have one and we followed them in. The restaurant at the golf course closes at around 5 PM on weeknights and the nearest other one is 14 miles away. Stopped at the guard gate to turn in our keys and the guard told us we needed to move quickly or the gate would close on our car. The cabins have charm, though, and it's very quiet out ther.

Warner Springs is a historic resort with fabulous bones but currently is mostly closed for renovation. It's almost sadder to see how amazing this place once was and that everything is closed off and empty, but hopefully someone will figure it out.

The property has a great historic western feel. The property is under restoration so a lot of amenities (pool, Hot Springs) are not accessible yet.

Not worth it
Publié le 27 mars 2019 sur HotelsHard to find in the dark as there is no lighting on the poor signage. At the same time, it is impossible to even leave a bag there before the 4pm check-in time. Lobby non-existent, either a gas station across the street or a sketchy “security booth” at entrance. Guard/check-in guy (no way he gets to be called a receptionist) was short on manners but made up for it in attitude. Vague directions to cabin unaccompanied by map. Room was cute, snug, clean ...and a good thing because there was NO SOAP. Just lotion and conditioner (?!). And no phone to call the non-existent front desk. Very weak Wi-Fi. You can hear the people in the next room change their minds... Grounds are a mess. This place needs to get its act together. Way, WAY overpriced for value received.

Historic, rustic, but renewed, updated and entirely comfortable. A little off beat, and off the beaten track. Check in was unusual, but the friendly staff called ahead of time to make sure we knew what to expect, and were VERY helpful and accomodating.
