Weekend at the bears den

Fall getaway
Publié le 28 oct. 2023 sur HomeAwayThe property was just as listed! Super clean and cozy, had everything we needed to feel right at home. We were able to cook a few meals while staying, even watch the Bills game as a family. Location was perfect, we were able to fish the river that runs through the property, then take a short car ride to hike some trails, shop, do whatever we needed/wanted. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and hope to return soon! Highly recommended!*****

Stay at the Bears den

GRRRReat time at the Bear's Den!
Publié le 23 juin 2023 sur HomeAwayWe loved our time at the Bear's Den! Fabulous house! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. House was fantastic, perfect for 2 couples, as we were. Every one should bring your fishing rods, we did not and we wish we did. Great location for day trips through out the area. If we come back to the Lake George area, we will be back at the 'Den'.

Cute relaxing cabin

Exactly what I was hoping for!
Publié le 9 janv. 2023 sur HomeAwayWe spent 2 nights in this beautiful cabin. Irene stayed in contact from booking to after check-out. The beds were comfortable and home was warm. I would recommend staying here. Hopefully we can come back during the summer and take advantage of sitting on the screened porch. Only suggestion is I wish we had a fire pit of some sort. Definitely not a deal breaker.

Fantastic River House

In need of TLC

It was very hot during our stay and there is only one window unit air conditioner in the living room for the whole house and it was very hot. The ceiling fan in our room did not work properly and the floor fan barely moved any air on the highest setting. This house is located right next to I-87 and the truck traffic noise is loud. When sitting in the covered screened in porch my husband and I had to raise our voices to hear each other over the traffic. Inside the house the traffic noise is not noticeable, unless you open windows. The lighting in the house is another issue, there are no lamps on the first floor and the track lighting is blinding. I went to turn on the light in our bedroom upon arrival and the entire light fixture fell off the wall in my hand. My husband repaired the light fixture along with the shower head which was clogged with sediment and had very little water pressure. The handle on the sliding door to the porch was also in disrepair and I inisited that my husband not repair that during our stay. For the amount of money we spent, I was not happy with the location and the repairs needed, nor the temperatures of over 80 degrees in the house at night with the air conditioning on. Another note, the entire house has only one mirror in the bathroom; most people require a mirror to get ready. I recommend putting a mirror in each of the sleeping spaces.

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, your stay was during an unprecedented heat wave where the temps were in the mid 90s when the normal range all summer is the mid/high 70s. The AC and ceiling fans have been more than enough to keep the house cool. I was surprised to hear about all these issues when reading this review as I had sent several messages to you during your stay asking how things were going and if there were any concerns, and I never received a response. Had any of these items been brought to my attention I would have immediately sent our handyman over to perform any necessary repairs.
Regarding the lighting, we feel that the current 6 lights in the family room and kitchen are more than enough to light the space well. We do not have lamps as we have many families who stay in our cabin and felt it would be a trip hazard for children.
The location of the home offers easy access on/off the highway as clearly described in our listing, and most guests love the proximity to Lake George and all other major area attractions. It may have been a particularly busy weekend which caused more cars than normal, but this has not been brought to my attention before.
The cabin underwent an extensive renovation over the last several months, and most things are brand new- floors, trim, appliances, lights, fixtures, bathroom, and sinks, so I am quite surprised to hear of all these issues you encountered. The week prior to your stay, we had a brand new well system installed, which may have resulted in some pressure changes in the shower head. Again, if I had been alerted to this situation, I would have been more than happy to remedy it. Regarding the mirrors, thanks for bringing this to my attention and that has been corrected.
The GOOD NEWS for all future guests is: a new shower head has been installed along with upgraded ceiling fans, as well as mirrors in the bedrooms. Our cabin has a history of 5-star reviews, on this site and other platforms, so we hope you visit the area again.
