Weekend getaway

Fall at Anne's Mountain Retreat

The Lansing Creeper Trail Park was nice (go to the other side of the creek for a more rustic walk) and Mount Jefferson State Park Luther Rock spur had some fantastic views.
The fire ring was great for morning/evening fires.

Mountain retreat
Publié le 29 nov. 2021 sur HomeAwayLovely remodeled older home, out in the country. It was really cold while we were there so we did not get to enjoy the firepit. But the gas heat, inside, kept us toasty. There is a Dollar General within walking distance for things you may have forgotten. The cute little town of West Jefferson is nearby, with many antique and specialty shops. We had a nice relaxing 4 day stay taking day trips to West Jefferson, Boone, Blowing Rock and Valle Crucis. We topped it off by picking out our Christmas Tree on the way out of town.

Great cabin for a quick trip

The house was very comfortable, quaint and cozy.

This is a great location except that it sits atop a very busy state highway and the noise level from the traffic (trucks, haulers, motorcycles, loud mufflers, etc.) was terrible. The house has a great front porch and view and we were looking forward to spending time out there just taking it in. But many a conversation was interrupted because of the noise level. By the end of our 2 week stay we were exhausted by it. If you plan on being gone all day and not planning on being outdoors at the house, this would probably suit your needs. I feel bad about this review because there is nothing the owners can do about it but I also feel renters should know the problem. For that reason, and that reason alone, we cannot come back.
