Celebration of Life for our brother

Posted Oct. 25, 2023 on HomeAway
Properly beautiful. House dirty. Catering kitchen fithy. Mold growing in freezer. Lots of things do not work in house, some a/c, tv in master. False advertising. I rented as shown for 10 people. They changed to 7 and did not inform me. Told host on 1st correspondence we were having Celebration of Life and nothing was said about an additional fee. After reservation confirmation and serveral days later I was told I had to pay additional fee for Celebration of Life. We loved this property (outside). But would not recommend and will NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN

Pam stayed at our farm for a few days. I saw the Karen in her when I receive her first text when she arrived. Texting a list of complains…. “We have a couple of problems. The biggest being the propane fireplace is leaking gas. We turned off inside and out. Second TV in master bedroom will not load. Third- where are you hiding the wash cloths / face clothes?” She really didn’t have anything good to say about the farm and all the activities we provide like fishing, shooting, golfing and much more. I’m not sure why she had this negative attitude! We had hundreds of guests in the past coming from all over the country to our farm and not one has said or shown anything but gratitude and appreciation for staying at our farm. Please read some of our reviews on Airbnb and VRBO. Next day early I came to the farm and met some of her friends outside enjoying the beautiful day on the deck before she showed up. Again not a word of appreciation like what normally people say when they come to this oasis.… nice place, beautiful farm, thank you for having us…not even a hello. she start telling me that there was a musty smell when she arrived and had to open the doors to air out but she said she knew that it’s a farm house and its normal. I went upstairs and spent an hour talking to the Dish support team till they were convinced the problem can not be fixed on the phone and arranged for a service tech for early next morning to replace the receiver or update the firmware that couldn’t be done on the phone. The gas smell was already resolved by her shutting off the gas valves. Honestly we never had any guests mentioned that prior to her stay. In regards to her last request, I personally went and got her some washing cloths. 🤗 She never mentioned about any other problem other than the bedroom TV. Nothing about the split zone heating system issue (never had an issue) nor filthy catering kitchen (first I heard). Actually when I asked her if she has any concerns or questions she said no she didn’t. The next day she texted me again regarding another complain that she can’t get into the camper for her nieces to stay over night. I explained that Camper is only available when you have more than 6 guests staying. Unfortunately she listed only 5 adults and 2 pets and we had no discussion about needing the camper prior to her request. In regards to extra charge for having the celebration party for 50 guests. she never mentioned to have it at the farm till she texted me for permission to have some rental furniture being delivered. That’s when I found out that the celebration was on our farm. I reduced our standard fee of $1500 to $1000. Giving her $500 toward the camper that wasn’t available for her niece. Next day I check in with her to see how she’s doing and asked if the TV was fixed. Again her response was disrespectful and rude with so much attitude. “ Instead of saying, yes they came and it’s fixed. Thank you” She said that tech told her the TV was not even connected to the receiver!! That was a whopper. Like what was I doing in the room for an hour on the phone with 3 different techs? First thing they ask is to check all the connections. Dish network wouldn’t send a tech unless it’s deem necessary and it was. We want all of our guests to have the best experience that we could possibly provide. Unfortunately things always doesn’t go as plan but one thing you can count on is our hospitality and attentiveness to details. We treat you like family and do everything possible for our guests to have a wonderful time. Thank you

Perfect spot for a getaway

Posted Aug. 17, 2023 on HomeAway
We loved staying at this property and hope to return in the future! We hosted a rehearsal dinner for our wedding at a venue nearby and it was wonderful. The house and property are great to get around. The only things I would recommend preparing for is that: (1) the wifi signal and data signal are both weak, so be prepared to spend most of your time off your device; and (2) there are a couple of hornet/wasp nests on the patio and at the event structure by the silo. They were not particularly bothersome, and insects are part of nature, but you do have to watch out for them when you’re outside. They are more active at night.

Thanksgiving Stay

The farm property is beautiful with many things to do and explore. The farm house and RV were a little more "rustic" than anticipated but all had a fine time

Property is gorgeous; house is a farmhouse; RV is undesirable

Many amenities are available on the spacious and lovely property. The decor matches the farmhouse well, and the kitchen is well equipped. There is heating/cooling unit in all the bedrooms, kitchen and living room, but not the bathrooms. The RV is musty, does not have a bathroom and its ceiling sags.

Hi Jan Thank you for your review and appreciate your input for the RV. We advertised the RV as an extra bedroom and never presented to be a living space. It says under the pictures that it doesn’t come with a bathroom. I’m sorry about the sags in the ceiling caused by a tree branch during a tornado not while ago. We are replacing it soon. As you know the house is over 100 years old and during renovation we could not find a heating/cooling system to accommodates also the bathrooms as well. Therefore we have a couple of electric heaters that guests can use if needed located in the closet next to the bathroom. My sincere apology for your inconvenience. Thank you

Perfect for toddler

The weather was cold and rainy but this property was well equipped for all conditions. We got a fire going in one of the zillion firepits and our 21 month old had the best time throwing rocks off the little bridge, taking the boat out to feed the fish, splashing in muddy puddles, and going for rides on the “tractor” (golf cart). The home had plenty of extra blankets and a nice indoor gas fire that heated things up quickly. The kitchen was plenty big with a toaster oven, microwave, and oven with broiler. Bed was very comfortable with high quality sheets, blankets and temperpedic mattress. Only an hour from dc, we’re definitely going to try to rent again and hope for warmer weather.

Great stay!

Went to Warrenton, VA for granddaughters 12th birthday. This farm was available and everyone had a blast! Lots to do on the property such as archery, golf, cornhole, fishing, kite flying (we brought our own), fire pit, grilling area. Will stay again!
