Awesome historic northwest Oklahoma stay
Publié le 30 janv. 2023 sur HomeAwayThe facade is amazing. The bar downstairs is awesome. This is a very spacious historic house. We had a great time here. Would probably be even better in the summer time when the pool is available. Definitely recommend checking it out!

Dream home at your pleasure!
Publié le 4 janv. 2023 sur HomeAwayTwo other couples, my husband and I just had the pleasure of staying in the amazing home. We booked for two nights to bring in the New Year together. We have traveled together many times. We were unable to do the tour because we arrived late and the owner had other engagements but it was pretty cool to explore on our own. He did call when we arrived and offered to give us a walking tour with him explaining. We were just too excited. We walked into the kitchen and it was huge. Enough for all of us to cook in. It was stocked too! We didn't need half of what we brought. The house has the most beautiful furniture I have ever seen. The living room had plenty of room for us to all relax in front of the tv. He had tons of dvds to choose from plus Netflix. There may have been video games too. This room was my favorite from the gorgeous lighting, amazing fireplace and the painting we just couldn't stop starring at. One couple picked the "red" room for their stay. They were a little warm the first night but we found a fan and it worked out great. The stairs are lovely but noisey. Lol. Nobody was coming up those stairs without us knowing it but it added to the charm and made me feel like a kid again. We chose the "magic" room. It had a pink bathroom and I love pink. The bed was very comfortable and we slept like a baby. We never heard a noise in that room. Even with others moving around. Another couple took the master bedroom. The basement was scary to me so I only went down there a few times but the others loved it and and found it fascinating. Oh there are tons of games down there too. We brought some but shouldn't have. It was that stocked. In the morning we made a huge brunch and again the kitchen was just smazing. It had everything! We then explored outside. It was so peaceful sitting outside listening to just the trees and some chickens in the distance. We had a fire in the fire pit and also grilled steaks on the grill. We all felt so comfortable and cozy. We never thought it wasn't safe. It was hard to leave. We all gave it 2 thumbs up! Willis was very communicative. He was the most hospitable and friendly host we have had. I am sure we will come back again to get away from the hustle and bustle. Thank you Willis! We love your home!

Prohibition Era House with Interesting History
Publié le 1 août 2022 sur HomeAwayYou just don't get the chance to stay in a house like this everyday. Lovely original features including stone and woodwork. Roomy, comfortable and cool in the summer heat. Great place to stay if you're someone who appreciates preservation of old homes. We prepared most of our meals in, taking advantage of the grill and roomy, well stocked kitchen. A lovely little restaurant near the high school provided great takeout sandwiches (and even ‘lumpia’) as well as friendly customer service.
Shower accessibility on the first floor was difficult for older members of the group and will be made much easier completion of the additional bathroom on the first floor. Otherwise bathrooms were clean and in good condition. Full bannisters on the staircase would make the upstairs more accessible as well. The screened porch was lovely and cool. Such a relaxing place to talk and visit.
The house had so much character. At this price point though, the house would be improved by regular professional cleaning. Many years of grime and dust have accumulated in areas of the home. We were not provided a key and were told to leave the door unlocked when we were not home (there was a house alarm, monitored by the owner). It may be a small, safe town but we were not comfortable with that or finding every window unlocked and most readily openable. It would be nice to have access to the pool but it was not available as part of the rental agreement.
The owner was friendly, responsive, helpful and readily available. He knows a great deal about the home and is obviously working hard to preserve and improve it. This house is definitely worth a visit.
