First-class facility. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and quiet. Location was excellent - easy walking to shopping district, Queens Wharf, and food district. Highly recommended!
I stayed at this hotel two years ago and would have rated it excellent then. I chose to stay here again due to its excellent location. The extractor fan in the bathroom wasn’t working and despite this being reported on the first day nothing was done resulting in condensation throughout the room and a damp environment. The breakfast was fair for the price. The staff were not bothered.
The room we were in was definitely on the 'older' side of the hotel, hopefully awaiting refurb? The shower had a curtain over a bath, there were no power points on the wall next to the beds, the beds had a definite 'slope/roll', the tv menus for giving information for the hotel, restaurant and room service menus were 'not available at this time' so we didn't order anything sadly. Lovely staff, great location, very clean (though the bathroom didn't feel great with the shower curtain over the bath) - just a tired room. Would stay again but not in that particular area.
Front desk could be more empathetic towards my req
I made an online booking and paid for the room. On arriving the front desk helper said I should pay an extra $100 for breakages either cash or credit card. To my surprise I had neither as I do not own a credit card and had no cash. Front desk would not give me the key to put my bags in . I had to walk to ASB bank to draw the $100 which was quite annoying and I was requested to pay $30 for parking as well. Not the way I wanted to start my anniversary getaway.
They should state some of the rooms open on to an enclosed area with no access to fresh air. The room was hot and stuffy which meant having to leave the noisy air-conditioning on, so not much sleep.
The bathroom was tired and shabby. The shower was very low, I'm only 5'6" and had to bend down to rinse my hair.
Reception staff were too busy trying to sell us dinner at their restaurant to tell us basics like needing your swipe card to activate the lift (useful to know when you're carrying a load of luggage, or for the people who got in before us and couldn't work it out) or which set of lifts went where.
We've stayed at better hotels in the same area for less. Won't be staying again.
