Had a one night stay during cyclone

Emplacement : 2 minutes from town
We were down in Whakatane for a wedding during a cyclone that hit the town quite bad, unfortunately the wedding was canceled due to the weather circumstances, etc no power, so we wandered back to the motel and having nothing to eat we were starving, my wife mentioned to the owner what had happened and she said she would fix up some sandwiches up for us, but her husband brought up to our room two plates of lasagna and salad, at no charge, excellent service under those circumstances.

We were warmly welcomed on arrival and enjoyed the spacious and comfortable room and bed. Nice big bathroom. Easy walking distance to shops and restaurants.

Pour : Location excellent.
Contre : Although clean our room had that awful scented de-odouriser smell. Our room had no through airflow and was noisy during the evening.
Emplacement : Well located
One night of two in Whakatane. Definitely inferior to the previous night in Whakatane despite being more expensive. The room was clean but had that awful scented de-odouriser smell. The room had windows only one side and there was no through air flow. We found the faux italian architecture unimpressive. The room was noisy during the evening because of the pizzaria and bar opposite.

Pour : Owner very friendly. Very comfy bed. Room amenities were great. Nice to have a heat pump and/or ceiling fan.
Contre : In my room the fridge was missing a foot or something so was very wobbly when opening/closing
Found the hotel through Google when I made the decision for a weekend away. Was a great place to stay.

The staff are friendly enough, the breakfast pretty good and the room was a good size with a decent WiFi too, but...
