Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Wheeling at the Highlands is a great place to stay. Very clean property, friendly and helpful staff. The room was very comfortable and was fully equipped to meet our needs. Whenever we're in town, Hawthorn Suites at Wheeling, will definitely be our preferred choice.

The check in was easy. The breakfast was served until 10am and they had drinks all day. We came down during the day and they had cookies and fruit out! It was a great snack. They rooms were very clean and the staff was amazing!! We will be back! It is a great location for us with our daughter there in school.

Not Impressed

Was not super impressed. Smudges and stuck food on the fridge door and handles. Bathroom was not very clean. Coffee maker in the room was disgusting. Pink and black mold in the shower. The shower door leaked. Had to put towels on the floor so we didn’t slip from all the water. I would not stay here again.

A review for a hotel that deserves it.

This trip the room was especially clean. The staff are all very helpful. We have stayed at this hotel at least ten times over the past several years while occasionally visiting the other hotels in the area. There is no comparison. The rooms are alot larger with a kitchen. Full size fridge that you don't have to crawl on the floor to use like all the other hotels have. Their breakfast is also better than all the other hotels in the area that we have stayed at. For what they give you, you just can not beat the price.

Room was nice and great to have the larger fridge and cooktop. Beds were comfortable and blackout blinds were excellent. Shower had lots of hot water, lots of space in the room. Breakfast was always good, loved the fresh baked cookies in the afternoon. When we arrived they even had lasagna out. Kitchen area was always clean and hallways were always clean. Would definitely recommend staying here to anyone. Lots of great shopping really close and only a few minutes to Wheeling.

The hotel is in a great location and the gentleman that checked us in was fabulous. He was so friendly and caring and helpful. The room was beautiful, nice and clean very spacious and the bathroom was just luxurious. I had a great stay.

I stayed here for one night on vacation and really wish I hadn’t. The hotel looked nothing like the pictures online. There were about six men smoking right outside the entrance the entire time I was there, which made me uncomfortable walking in and out with my service dog. The room seemed clean at first, but later I noticed long black dog hairs all over the bathroom floor – definitely not from my dog. Overall cleanliness was bad. Garbage cans were overflowing, and the outdoor seating area was covered in cigarette butts and ashes. Even the benches out front were filthy. Breakfast was gross and the coffee was undrinkable. Staff were just okay – not rude but not welcoming either. I got such a bad vibe that I went out to buy bug spray for peace of mind. I would not recommend this hotel and will never stay here again.

Just okay

Booked a king bed but gave away and put wife and I in 2 queen beds. Garbage can in room had small amounts of waste not removed. Beds were not comfortable. Due to many workers staying here, floors in elevator and hallway are very dirty. Nice to have sink, microwave, full size fridge fir linger stays but not a high end establishment

We have stayed at the Hawthorne several times over the past few years due to its cleanliness,price and quietness. This time was different. We stayed in room 404. I don't think it was ever cleaned from the last guests. Desk chair looked like someone had an accident on it,discussing. Desk top was dusty & the floor below it had an M&M,fruitloop & other various pieces of garbage on it. There were no sheets,blanket or pillows for the sofa bed, wife had to go down to the desk to get some. In the tub I found in the one corner to the left of center of long back wall blood & tissue that appeared to be a small scab. Towels were folded but hastily thrown under the sink,& one had an earwig in it that was dead.Soap & condiments were almost non existent.Refrigerator door side looked like it has never ever been wiped down since it was new.Table top had something smeared on it we had to wipe down before we could use it.We usually use the microwave light underneath for a night light BUT it didn't work.Light on night stand had bad receptacle,we had to replace it with another one in the room as I need it for my Bi-Pap.We never used any of their dishes as they were all water marked & as dirty as the rest of the place was who knows what else was on them.We can't take pictures and send them or we would have.Don't know if mangement doesn't give them enough time to clean or if they are just lazy.My bet is on mangement.We usually let 5.00 each night we stay,this time they should have payed me.
