Perfect for a group of friends or family
Publié le 14 août 2024 sur HomeAwayWe have a group of 12 that meet every year for an outing and this was the perfect place to stay. It's often hard to find a place where the full group can congregate and talk without being in a loud hotel lobby or bar.
In this wonderful home, we were able to be together in the living room, outside, and at meals. But the large number of bedrooms and bathrooms gave everyone privacy as well.
Fantastic!! All attendees commented on how good the accommodations were.

Great House

Hello Wesley, thank you for the excellent rating and confirming that the home is great for large groups. During your stay, A/C would have certainly been a good thing. You did stay during what is going to be the hottest part of the summer in Whistler and during a heat wave at that.
Over the years, I have struggled with the decision to put in A/C or not. Most of the time temperatures drop down enough over night to cool the home sufficiently (for instance over the next two nights (July 23 and 24), the forecast is that temperatures will drop down to 10 and 9 degrees respectively. The struggle comes down to the fact that the heating in the home is radiant floor heating - a clean way of heating a home but does not lend itself to installing a/c easily. We would have to create a new vent system and install a cooling system. The latter is not an issue but the venting system would have to be around the outside of the home and it would ruin the wood ski lodge look that we put forth. In other words it would not be esthetically pleasing. The other way to install a/c would be having built in wall units installed but this would involve major construction including tearing down walls in 14 rooms and having to get increased electrical lines coming into the home along with a new electronic panel. The cost to do so would likely run up to $100,000 and we would have to be shut down (no rentals) for a about a month. Is this worth putting in A/C for the 8 days per summer that it is needed?

Amazing Property & Location
Publié le 26 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayCan't say enough positive about our stay at this property. The house was large enough to fit 12+ adults easily. It was clean, the amenities (hot tub, sauna, game room) were fantastic and the property manager was accessible & helpful. Check in & checkout were seamless. The location is a ~15-30min walk from downtown but there is a bus that is less than a 5min walk from the property that can take you downtown. Highly recommend.

Regarding distances to the main village, perhaps I am just a fast walker (or know the routes around better?) but I can arrive to anywhere in the village in a much shorter time frame.
Here is my standard reply for distances and transportation inquiries:
We are located 2 blocks from the northwest corner (Lorimer Rd. & Hwy. 99) of the main Whistler village. We are less than one mile (1.6 km) from any point in the main Whistler village including the lifts for both mountains. During incremental weather periods, walking while wearing ski boots and carrying ski/snowboarding equipment is not advisable - you might want to catch a shuttle that stops one block away – for schedule details, please visit https://www.bctransit.com/whistler/schedules-and-maps - you may also find fare information through a link on this web page. Taxi is another option – for less than $3 per person (cabs hold a minimum of four people plus equipment) you can be taken right to any location with door-to-door service – the drive is less than two minutes.

Wonderful Lodge - Walking Distance to the Village

Beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well-stocked.

Amazing place great location

I will say that it can take 15 minutes to walk to any part of the main Whistler village however it is only 3 blocks away from the main commercial area of the Village (largest grocery store, fast food outlets such as McD, KFC and Tim Hortons, liquor store largest pharmacy, etc.) so it really should only take someone 5 minutes or less to get to this area of the village. Hope that you and your group return again in the future as you are more than welcome!
