Whitby Beach is Beautiful!

Publié le 25 oct. 2024 sur HomeAway
Caicos Cottage on Whitby Beach is a beautiful place! Literally just steps from the sand, every window on the back of the cottage has a breathtaking view. The property owner was very prompt and courteous with questions. Mac, the local manager, was waiting at Bellefield Landing when we arrived, and efficiently showed us everything we needed to know about the property. The freshwater pool was absolutely fantastic! There were a few times when the surf was too rough to swim (due to 2 hurricanes), and the pool was invaluable during those times. The master bed was incredibly comfortable, with amazing morning beach views. Breakfasts on the covered patio are something we won’t forget! Parts of the cottage are definitely showing their age. Some walls are cracking with plaster peeling. Master bath towel bar kept falling off the wall. Things like that. Nothing major - just little things. What was more of a concern was the separate and additional charge for air conditioning. It was very hot and stagnant during our stay, so much so that even the local residents were commenting on it. Heat indexes were 100-105 every day with no evening breezes, and very little throughout the day. We had to use the AC quite a bit just to maintain some level of comfort. Still have not received the extra bill for that. Concerned about how much that is going to be. Would we return? Absolutely! And we hope to as soon as we can. When you visit, bring a lot of no-see-um repellent!! They were bad!

Get away to paradise

Third time to North Caicos. This was a mid-July visit. The house was nice and clean. Everything worked as advertised. Master king bed bedroom has 180 degree sliding doors that face the ocean and a private soak tub/shower. So nice to wake up looking at the ocean. The other bedroom is a queen bed with a set of bunkbeds and use the house shower/bathroom. AC in both bedrooms and a main house unit too. We never turned the main house AC on but used the room ones every night at 72 and set them to 82 degrees during the day to knock off the humidity so if a cool spot was needed we had one (did not need). (you pay extra for ac electric use. 7 days cost us $104) Ocean air blows through the main house with all the windows open so it stayed pretty cool in the main house even in the heat of the day. Plenty of cook and serving ware. Blender. Drip type Coffee maker. Large water purifier was awesome. Water tasted clean and perfect (I'm a water snob) gas grill. Kayaks. Water Floats. Pool was perfect. Of course, the beach and ocean are some of the best we have seen. One of the only places where you can walk the beach and swim and rarely see other people. We counted seeing 7 other people over the period of 7 days on this beach. Some were the same people. VERY serene introspection-type place. If you want night life, go somewhere else. This place is not for you. We thoroughly enjoyed this place. Rent a car from Al’s to see Mudjin Harbor, Bambarra Beach, Three Mary Cay. Caves. Completely safe.

Will be back!

This experience was wonderful from start to finish. Cynthia kept in communication with me and helped me navigate the process of getting to North Caicos, renting a vehicle, and getting around the island. Upon arrival Mac was already there and ready to escort us to the house. He gave us the breakdown of the property and all the amenities. The house itself was great. It was clean, well decorated, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I would recommend reading the binder to inform yourself about electric and water usage on the island as well as local grocery stores, restaurants, and things to do before settling in. The beach was amazing and the whole time we were there we saw one other beachgoer (who was stark naked) but was about a 1/2 down the beach from us. Otherwise we had it all to ourselves. TCI, including Whitby Beach, had the prettiest beaches/water we have ever seen out of all of the Caribbean islands we have been to. We kayaked, beach combed for conchs, and hung out in the pool. We made most of our meals at the house. We didn't go to the grocery store in Providenciales due to time but it ended up not being necessary as the local stores had most of what we needed. Be aware that there is a 4% charge for all purchases made via card at gas and grocery stores. The locals range from friendly to indifferent but we never had any outright negative encounters. The nearby beach bar was great as well. Would recommend getting some conch while you're here!

Quiet and Secluded Paradise

Publié le 29 mars 2024 sur HomeAway
We had the most amazing stay at Caicos Cottage. The location was wonderful with just a few steps to the beach. We had a few days following a storm that the seas were rough as the tide was going out, and the pool provided a perfect retreat. As many have described, there are very few other people on the entirety of the beach, given we were there over spring break we did see a few more, but by no means considered it busy. The house was as pictures, with the master bedroom facing the ocean with a wonderful breeze the entire time we were there. The house overall stayed cool with all the patio doors open. We did need to run the air conditioning in the second bedroom a slight amount each night to initially cool it off. Would highly recommend this property for a small family stay on the island. It allows you to adventure and check out North and Middle Caico easily. A few tips for your visit: there are local grocery stores, but selection is limited, leave yourself enough time to stop and get your produce in Provo before getting on the ferry. Also consider packing dried goods in and bringing in store packaged frozen meat for additional selection from home. Purchase your ferry tickets in advance and arrive early - we did see one family get turned away because the ferry was over capacity. Finally, Al's rental car is the primary option with pickup right at the ferry terminal. Book far in advance, you may need to follow up a few times to confirm your booking.

Exactly as Pictured - Secluded and Peaceful

Incredible stay at Caicos Cottage with our family of 5 for spring break. We enjoy an off the beaten path adventure and this was it. Although the island is not large, the cottage is in the perfect location from a convenience standpoint. We loved having the pool and there were plenty of floats, chairs, towels, and gear for our needs. The view of the ocean and layout of the cottage is truly perfect. We would absolutely return. Mac was a wonderful guide and Cindy could not have been more helpful before our trip with questions/suggestions. Bringing groceries from Provo is a must because the markets on North get weekly deliveries, so things like milk, bread, and eggs may not be available. Plan ahead and you won't have any issues. We will be back!

A beautiful, relaxing setting right on the beach offering a great chance to recharge and enjoy the views and sounds of the ocean. The property was well appointed and comfortable. Cindy and Mac were helpful hosts both from a distance and locally - thanks to you both!

Dream Honeymoon

Publié le 22 janv. 2024 sur HomeAway
Caicos Cottage was everything we hoped for and more! Beautiful beachfront home with privacy and the slower pace that you won’t find in touristy Provo. The house offered plenty of space and all the essentials we needed plus some including the gorgeous pool, kayaks, snorkel gear and even binoculars for checking out Flamingo Pond - Cindy was so sweet and even left us a bottle of champagne since it was our honeymoon. The location is perfect, just a short drive from the ferry, close to grocery stores and the beautiful Barracuda Bar, and only 15-30 minutes from other must see North and Middle sights. Would absolutely encourage a car or jeep rental when staying on North. The water was beautiful turquoise blue and crystal clear our entire 6 day trip and we only had a little sprinkle of rain one afternoon. We spent most of our week sitting on the back porch listening to the waves. Truly felt like paradise and we’re already thinking of a return trip!!

Wonderful and Relaxing

Publié le 30 déc. 2023 sur HomeAway
Our family of four had a wonderful time at the Caicos Cottage. With older kids that were up for a few adventures, we decided North Caicos was a preferred alternative to the hustle of Provo. There were a few mosquitoes and bugs but the property was well maintained and the beach was amazing. We appreciate the availability of Mac but didn’t need much help with a little research ahead of time. If you are looking for a quiet spot with amazing beach access and authentic adventures awaiting you, give this place a try!
